Hello, here is my solution.

Excellent - Very cool - maybe some description of the mod might help others?

PS - you may want to consider hot gluing or providing some vibration restraint to those floating resistors.

I'll try to explain the first two pictures.
His choice was to use the two unused module pins, that in original JR module are used for 6V and former FM antenna, to route the serial line between Frsky module and 9X.
Inside Frsky module these pins are free, I already used them in other project to pass two signals.
In the first picture the thin wires connects these two pins to the Frsky serial line, before the MAX circuit, so to TTL levels, as needed by 9X. This way we have the Frsky serial lines, with good TTL levels, available at module pins, and no more external wires / case hole are needed. And also no more need for transistors inside 9X.
But inside 9X these pins are connected to PCB. To make them usable for this purpose, he cut around them in the second picture, making the pads available to transport the serial line from Frsky module inside 9X.

Thanks,

I literally (3 days ago) just finished up modifying my second 9x with a smartie board and serial adapter for FrSky telemetry using a DIY.

I am a believer in KISS - this is that (although some might balk at the trace cutting). This is a very impressive system (haven't flown yet) and really looking forward to flight trials.

Hi RENATOA

I'm impressed!
Could you elaborate a tutorial on these changes?
Do you have any wwwlink, or blog about it?

Thank you.
Claiton from Brazil.

RENATOA

Do you have any youtube move about it?

About... what ?
I am not the OP ! ask him

#8 claitonleite Jan 23, 2012 03:23 PM

Ok..
I understand. Thanks!!!

so this relies on one of the er9x firmwares to display data?

maybe this is a good reason for me to dust off my 9x and try using it for planes again. also give me an excuse to open it up and add clicks to the throttle which is one of the reasons i put it aside as a plane radio.

op has provided enough info to do the mod. if you need movies then maybe better to hire a tech or have a more experienced friend do this.

Or maybe you can do the movies when doing the mod :)

Amazing! Please give complete tutorial of this mod
Many thanks!

I'm detailing a bit emerge's method, on a DIY DHT module. ;)

How to - 9x on screen telemetry with FrSky (DIY DHT module) (5 min 18 sec)

Great explanation!
I've added it to our wiki :)
