#11 keychain cam for on-board HD recording?
I'm trying to put together my FPV setup. I'm looking for something to record on-board, in addition to the actual flight cam. I know many folks use the Go-Pro, but wow...what a heavy brick!

It seems that many folks are really liking the #11 keychain cams, which are HD (720p) cams. I'm curious if anyone here has directly compared these cams to the more expensive equivalents, and can possibly offer feedback / input.

Small, lightweight, aero, and $45...sounds like a good combo to me.

You can find on ebay an used Sony Bloggie for as low as... even $39 I see in this moment, and this is a real HD camera.

I'm very pleased with my tiny keychain cam, it's light and cheap and a bit aero too!

Same here, very pleased with this cam :) Image quality is very nice for such a small cam !

As mentionned above, date/time tag can be switched off easily :D

It seems the Bloggie takes better video, but it's such a weight penalty! I'm torn between the image quality (which will last long after the flight), and the constant frustration of carrying around all the "dead weight" for better image quality. :/

for small planes and copter, i use the hd keycam + fisheye lens
on bigger planes and copter, the sony bloggie.

Well, I found the Bloggie for $52.99 at Best Buy:

Unfortunately, they won't ship it. And for whatever reason, they won't let me pick it up at the Best Buy in my town. Instead, the closest store they'll allow is an hour away.

No thanks.

You missed this one at $39 yesterday...

But there are such bargains every week, 10 units listed under BestBuy price in this moment.

True, but the shipping price is $37.65, and the seller offers no returns. It looks like, after shipping, the "great deals" on eBay run $45-$55, and the bulk of them run $65-$80.

So I just said "heck with it", and ordered from TigerDirect (a retailer I trust) for $60.

I figure at that price, I can get a Bloggie and a #11 808 cam to go along with my pair of #3 808 cams.

I've got 2 #11's - I use one on my Funjet becasue of the size ans weight. I keep the other on the Easy Star - along with a GP and my flight camera. I use the #11 for different angles on the E*.... the quality is no comp to the GoPro though... but for a cheap camera - especially on a plane like the FJ that the GoPro isn't really an option - its great.

For me personally the #11 808 camera is the best choice. its so small and light, and can be velcroed anywhere and in any angle. it sure isnt a gopro (i have one of those too and i love it!) but for simplicity, low weight and cost - the 808 #11 has no competition !

I'm looking for the same thing and have been torn between GoPro Bloggie and #11. I just read the reviews on Best Buy for the Bloggie...... I won't buy that one now. So For now I will find a #11.

Anybody running the #11, Do you guys use a different lens or the stock one?

Also is it possible to have a live out?
