I like the location of the LCD screen. Now that I have plenty of experience with the A9 and telemetry I can see why they moved it up there...

#6 aa78 Sep 22, 2011 05:53 AM

^ The screen for the Eclipse has always been on top. There is no 'moved it up there' as you state. :)

On that note, is the release still on schedule?

#7 big bird Oct 14, 2011 03:03 PM

yeah screen on top is actually better

hmm..
looks nice.. what about price? close to the aurora or more like optic?

and how is the dlg flightmodes on this one compaired to the standard e7?
is it striaghtforward to set up launch, speed, thermal and cruice settings on aileron controlled modells? or is it still needed to do it like link A.T. have?

and is it easy to replace the module to old 35mhz and use the 35mhz antenna? or is it more or less 2.4ghz only? (not the biggest deal but when have the old module then why not)

Hello, would there be any service available for Eclpse 7 owners to send in their radios and have them switched into the pro version?

I have the FM eclipse 7 and am considering getting a 2.4GHz module for it. I'd really like to have the pro version but dont want to buy another new radio.

Negative, the cost to convert an Eclipse 7 PPM/QPCM transmitter to an Eclipse 7 Pro
would well exceed that of buying a new unit. [Different voltages apply]
This as not only new boards, including trainer system, would be required but
also a new screen together with new front & rear case and the new sliders etc.

Oh I see, but would the Eclipse 7 pro still come
with the standard hitech 9.6v NiMh?
I'm unsure what is meant by [different voltages apply] ?
If I were to just get a 2.4GHz module to upgrade my PPM/QPCM eclipse 7,
would I still be able to do the lipo conversion with the older radio?
Thank you. Matt P.

Eclipse 7 still uses same 9.6V (8 cell NiMH/NiCD pack) with AFHSS Spectra 2.4Ghz module,
Eclipse 7 Pro uses a 7.2v (6 cell NiMH/NiCD pack).
NiMH are arguably still best for TX, please read the information provided within the link
to all Eclipse information on previous post, which includes:

"Transmitter - Replacement Battery Packs NiMH, NiCD & Lipo.
NB: Do Not ever use a Lipo in an Eclipse 7 without a regulator or diodes as shown in the schematic.
Eclipse 7 - How to Prevent or in need Repair Reversed Polarity.

Low Battery Alarm:
.Eclipse 7 = LBW is fixed to beep when voltage falls below 9.3v for NiCD/NiMH as supplied.
- to low if using Lipo and with regulator/diodes, voltage reading will be incorrect.

Eclipse 7 Pro Manual - PDF.
Low Battery Alarm:
.Eclipse 7 Pro LBW is fixed at 6.6v for NiMH - care if using 2S Lipo, land without delay as very little time remains.
