Last flight in Afghanistan complete!
Hey folks, just got back in from my LAST flight here in Kandahar! Logged 1.0hrs on a training flight. For a grand finale, I asked tower for a low pass over the active runway. He cleared me for the option behind two departing F-18s doing afterburner takeoffs. I buzzed the runway at 50' and 150 knots, full length with a 55 degree left turn out back to "Mustang Ramp". I officially now have 1000.0 total hours of flight time and 387 hours in Kandahar.

It also means that in just a couple days my butt will be on a big plane on my way back to the USA. It will take about 4 days or so after leaving Kandahar, but, every minute is a minute closer.

See ya!

Thanks guys. Spent the day turning in ammo and packing stuff up. Tomorrow, I tear down my plywood palace that I have called home for a year. My little 6' x 6' "room" inside a room will be gone forever.

Now they just need to get the rest out of there and Iraq. My nephew is on his second tour in Iraq. Total, only a couple close calls by IED's and RPG's for him. He's Army infantry and cruises on H-60's in support and recon. I guess it's better than "boots in the sand" patrols.....:D Congrats...get your tail out of there.

I'm a retired 11B NCO. Tell your nephew I'm so proud of him and the rest of our young volunteers I could bust wide open, and I say that with the utmost sincerity. These soldiers have had a tough, tough row to hoe the past decade.
