The British Columbian DLG scene

It seems as though there are little pockets of DLG pilots scattered throughout BC, so hopefully this thread can help provide some communication between the different pilots and get to meet more friends!

Groups/fields that I know of so far (please let me know and I'll add to this list):

-Oakalla Hawks RC Glider club, Deer Lake, Burnaby
-Cloverdale group, Cloverdale Baptist Church, 64th ave and 188 st, Cloverdale
-Victoria/Vancouver Island
-Interior
-Abbotsford
-Richmond, Manoah Steves Elementary School

Let me know with more information guys and I'll keep this first post updated.

Hopefully this can serve as a good tool to organize some more contests around the area next season.

If you are planning on going flying anytime, make note of it here so others can join in the fun!

Welcome all.
I know there are others using the SD10G in the area. Is there anyone who needs another of the new FHSS 631 Rx's. I would order the 3 package but I only need one or two. Or if you bought some and do not need one let me know. jcringan@interchange.ubc.ca

It sure is sunny but so cold. Very hard on the fingertips.

I was out at the church in cloverdale flying my helicopters and there was three eagles out catching thermals. Should have brought the p2 out for some flying. sure was cold though. The short 5 minute flights with the heli were all my fingers could take.

I'm glad it's not snowing like the rest of Canada though, shoveling snow is not a fun way to spend the holidays!

Think I need to modify some thicker gloves for BOTH my hands to fly with this winter.

Looks like it's sunny all the way until Monday evening, but my fingers aren't going to survive in the below freezing weather either :(

It would be nice to come out and fly with you guys but that flippin ferry ride is pretty hard on the old pocket book.

#12 ThomasLee Dec 30, 2010 08:10 PM

that sucks, how much does it usually cost? I'm sure they accept Stobels :D

If you board by foot I'm sure one of us can give you a lift, I'm in Richmond so it's not too far from tsawwassen. I'm

I think it's pretty close to 50 bucks now each way. We will have to get together in spring maybe huh. These old bones don't do well in the cold.lol. Thanks for the offer Thomas.

Did you ever get the carbon osiris? I had one of the first ones years ago. It was a pretty nice bird. Lots of flights on that one.

Thats pretty steep, couple less beers for you then.

No, I wasn't totally happy with some of the communications so decided not to spend too much time with it and dropped it. Gary got one a little while ago and it seems to be really nicely built though, I can only imagine that their newer dbox version will be even nicer.

I got some really sweet stuff lined up for this year though, won't be a shortage of new models, thats for sure

I guess it's not to bad. I just needed to whine about something. Ya, I can spend a grand plus on a Stobel but I'm to cheap to spend a hundred on a ferry ride. Go figure.

Looking forward to see what new goodies you will come up with. :D
