New Hobby-Lobby micro P-51 and Spirfire! - direct competitor to Parkzone Ultra Micro?

Guys, I didn't see a thread on this...

http://www.hobby-lobby.com/micro_p51_mustang_rtf.htm

http://www.hobby-lobby.com/micro_raf_spitfire_rtf.htm

$99 RTF, extremely similar in size and configuration to the Parkzone P-51D Ultra Micro.

They're calling this the Micro Warbird SERIES! Could there be more on the way?!

Looks like it's only 3ch though...

At the very least, this might be a source for clear canopies, gear doors and alternative power systems to those of us who have a PZ Mustang. :)

EDIT: Thanks to elvill for spotting the Spitfire!

EDIT: Added "new product" tag to the thread. :)

Cool. I totally overlooked the Spit.

Now... how about airframe only for these babies!

Well you don't really need rudders to turn, I've had quite a few planes that were aileron and elevator only.

Unless you need to perform slips it will work OK.

it turns with the ailerons...
ever seen a hotliner or a speed 400 pylon racer? no rudder on any of them.
same way a flying wing turns too.

might be good to buy one and make it 4ch with the pz brick LOL

looks like it is slower than the pz mustang too. better for indoors.

never had a plane like that before... it just banks tip down for turns? how is flying that type of RC compared to diff thrust, or rudder, or thrust vector?

I looked around for ERC, and all I could find was an RC Car transmitter. Then I looked at the Hobby Lobby pictures, and the TX says: "An exclusive brand of Hobby Lobby International"

all airplanes turn by banking the wings. the rudder is used in turning to counteract the drag of the aileron of the high wing; for instance, in a left turn the right aileron is down, creating lift on that wing and banking the plane to the left. with lift comes drag and that drag will cause the plane to slip and lose altitude. most models of our size don't need rudder input as we are in a smaller reynolds number due to the size of our aircraft. aileron/elevator works just fine....bank the plane with aileron, and yank it thru the turn with elevator just like the pylon guys do.

If you look closely at the lower-left picture, there's an airplane. :p

Well just yesterday i told someone as soon as a micro spitfire was available I would order one, preorder if need be. Well i guess hobby lobby called me out on thsi one. Going to Order Monday LOL
would love to see the guts of one of these suckers or even a video of the spitfire.

Hope they can loop and roll though, the video seemed lacking in those respects.

Yep.. about an inch smaller than the PZ P-51D in each dimension.

Looks a bit tame in the video. I would bet it uses a 6mm motor. Still its an interesting plane and there seems to be no info on its 3 channel brick other than its 2.4 ghz.

ailerons to bank and elevator to fly thru the turn and opposite aileron to level the wings =turn complete
