RCAerodyne 500 Size 3D Helicopter Kit Carbon Fiber and CNC Aluminum ( Blue Edition )
2 Attachment(s)
Looking for an affordable alternative to the main stream Taiwan produced 500 size helicopter? Here's an option to be considered for both 3D and Sport/Scale heli pilots.

I received a review sample 500 kit from www.RCArodyne.com also known as www.scaleflying.com. It's a very complete clone of a high end, fully optioned Rex 500 at a much lower price. The kit from FHH (Full House Helis) is made in China and is a complete CNC aircraft grade aluminum and carbon fiber 500 size heli. It incudes the following features:

1. A complete chassis
2. Belt driven T/R
3. CF fin set
4. Light weight fiberglass painted and clear coated canopy
5. 1700Kv brushless motor
6. Full featured programmable 60 amp ESC (peak rating of 80amps) with integrated stepped 4 amp 5.5vdc BEC
7. 425mm fiberglass main rotor blades

Here's what the RCAerodyne site has to say about this heli:
500 size 3D helicopter kit. Includes all metal and carbon fiber parts. Fiberglass 425mm blades included.
Parts interchangeable with Trex 500.

This Fully Upgraded 500 size helicopter is an all out 3D machine. Nothing to upgrade. Parts are also interchangeable with Align Trex 500. This makes access to parts extremely easy since many hobby stores across the country stock Align Parts. RC Aerodyne also carries every single part for this heli at a discounted price. If you have an Align Heli, save money and get your discounted parts here!

Also check out the combo packages for this heli. From a stock motor set up to an extreme Scorpion Motor/ESC combo for all out crazy power.
The FHH 500 combo packages are available for those the prefer "one stop" shopping. Servos, gyro and all electronics can be ordered along with this heli.

I'll do a quick look build and fly report over the next few days and post the results here.

Cheers - Boyd;)

Ordered the MD500 fuse for my Trex 600 from there on Fri after speaking with Cliff assuring me they would ship on Friday for me and also verifying stock. Sweeeeet CS over there. I will have the fuse on Fri. BTW, Did not know I could pay with Paypal and had a balance to spend so ordered from another place. BIG mistake. They told me they were OOS but had another fuse that was the same so I ordered that only to get an E-mail the next day OOS also. I then ordered the same fuse from another place and the next day an E-mail oh OOS. Cliff to the rescue with the late night CS and next day shipment. Also, Theye were the only ones who had that fuse with working doors. He said they had them made that way. I will post a vid once I get it airborne. I really want the 800 size for 600 mechanics Blue Thunder next.

600 size clone Full House Helis mechanics are due in soon at RCAerodyne. In plenty of time of your Blue Thunder ZO-6.

With about 3 hours of fun the FHH heli is ready for electronics installation.

I check every fastener for thread locker except the two self tapping machine screws that tie the tail boom supports to the plastic bottom rear of the chassis. These get a tiny drop of CA adhesive to capture the screws. I found only three fasteners that were not thread locked. This is by far the best I have seen for any partially built heli out of the box. In spite of this, I encourage you to check and reapply thread locker on every fastener to metal junction.

The BL motor is a nice looking unit and is easily installed on the supplied CNC motor mount. Mounting screws are easy to get to for gear mesh adjustment.

The chassis mount for the tail boom also has the belt drive pulley, so this mount must be removed form the chassis in order to be able to install the belt. This is an easy task, but be certain that the T/R is rotating up into the down wash from the main rotor circle as the main rotor rotates in a CW direction when viewed from above.

There are no Phillips head fasteners in the kit and this is a major bonus as these fasteners heads strip out and have a very short service life. Socket head machine screws are used every where. There are also anodized washers supplied everywhere a fastener touches Carbon fiber. This is another thing that you pay extra for on many of the competition's helis.

More to come as we install servos, gyro and receiver on the FHH 500.

Cheers - Boyd;)

RCAerodyne has imported some affordable clone servos with the same specifications as the Futaba S9257. I am waiting for a set of these to arrive to continue this build.:)

Servos arrived and will be installed in the next day or two. These servos are super clones of the Futaba S9257 that a lot of us use for T/R pitch management. The advantage beyond the price differential is the allowance for these servos to operate at 4.8 - 6.0 vDC. This makes them even faster than the Futabas which can not be operated at 6.0 vDC. They are stout enough for use on cyclics and that means the Full House Heli 500 is going to get 4 of these little beauties.

any updates?

if you have it flying yet, how does it track through maneuvers?

did you dial out any of the interaction?

are the gears running true?

Finished the build today and put the first flights on this airframe. This is one sweet heli.

We outfitted it with the following kit:

Futaba GY520 with Futaba S9257 T/R servo
RCAerodyne clone S9257 servos on the cyclic.
RCAerodyne 1700kV BL motor
RCAerodyne 60 amp ESC
Spektrum 6100 receiver
Thunder Power 6s 1p 3850mah Extreme V2 LiPo

Here's a video with a 3D pilot at the controls:

RC Aerodyne: 500-Size Full House Helis Carbon Fiber 3D Helicopter Demo Flight (3 min 40 sec)

I am very impressed with the quality and flight worthiness of the Full House Heli 500 chassis. All the bits were high quality and there is total compatibility with the Align T-Rex 500.
As soon as the FHH 600 clone is available, I will be testing one of these also. There are a few 600 size scale heli fuselages that are waiting for mechanics.

This would be a great heli to spend that Christmas money on.
