I am busy with a Wot trainer , my first plane ?

I have heard that the Ailerons should be pinned ? What is this exactly and how do you do it ? Please give me some advise on this

Pinning refers to a method of securing the hinges. When the hinges are glued into position in the control surface and the wing, drill two small holes vertically through the wing (and thus through each hinge) and then glue a length of cocktail stick or similar through the holes and cut off flush with the wing surface.

Do the same on the aileron.

This then stops (or helps to stop) the hinges from pulling out.

I have found the CA hinges need no pinning.. I have seen ailerons in pieces with the ca hinge still firmly attached to the wood on all sides.. (don't ask how i know:) ) You can larger sheets of the stuff and cut your own so you make them longer, etc.

Now that is a tail skid.

Looking at the photos.. you definately want to stay away from those funky bends in the exposed pushrods for the rudder and elevator connections. If you go with this ARF... the elevator is single piece and the rudder is angled up at the bottom.. A good mod would be to run the rod straight out the back of the fuselage and center the horn on the elevator. This way it's a straight shot out the back, and concealed. This is done on some of the more basic sailplanes to reduce drag getting all that linkage out of the airflow. The rudder pushrod could also be straightened out by lowering the horn.

I thought that, those pushrod bends look horrendous, and I'm rather surprised at them, they look awfully sloppy.

Sorry...I had to interject after seeing what some of the posts here said...

Those pushrods are the wrong way round, the one connected to the rudder should be connected to the elevator and vice versa. You'll notice that then they both line-up without the need to drill extra holes in the fuse. Apologies to the builder as I've seen the instructions and they do tell you to do this, but a little common sense would tell you they're the wrong way round...

I agree that the pushrods are the wong way and am amased a reviewer who does improve the model does overlook this basic fact.

but like the reviewer writes once the plane is made more durable why choose this model since and advantages are gone :rolleyes:
