Has anyone there tried modern standard micro gear? The weight savings and performance of brushless motors and lipo's should thrill the crowds. Why are they bound to such heavy outdated gear? Do they have rules on what type of rc/motor combo they can use?

micro receiver/servo + lipo + brushless will work great! but too much cost for poor boy in Thailand :-)

Speed for now is 60-80Km/H for 2AA ni-cd battery ... do you think ? worth to upgrade to modern gear? or risk of sink into deep water (if crash) :-)

80kmh about 49mph not tooo shabby on 2aa cells how many shots across the water do you get per set of batteries?

Drag not over 3 minutes , free style 5 minutes.
Lipo will longer but the small brush motor dosn't have water cooler .. will die easily

For long run go with 2cells lipo + brushless motor with water cooler both ESC and motor

is there any drawings or simple plan available anywhere?
I definitely want to build one!... a bigger one based on 4S Lipo's and a 36-74 2000KV motor!!!

Suwat...

Love the craftmanship and ingenuity involved in this little boats!!!.Nothing like building/improvising something with minimal resources. You can tell everything is oldworld handcrafting, love those rudder setups and stepped hulls!!!.So Suwat,Are you the one who owns the website you posted and sell this little boats? if so can you tell us their prices in different stages(from hull only to RTR versions) in USA dollars?...........would love to have one and make it a "Shelf Queen".............Let me know, and thanks for posting this thread,.......Albert/Karfrik

thats crazy fast for such a boat! how could it go so fast when its only got a geared brushed motor on nicds! just crazy!

#13 Amp Abuser Sep 25, 2009 02:02 AM

With 2AA batts and brushed motor, wonder what kv of the motor is. Maybe that gear box gears up rather then down and thats how they are getting the rpm up.

#14 ED66677 Sep 25, 2009 02:14 AM

certainly but look at the prop pitch, it's hudge!

#15 Amp Abuser Sep 25, 2009 02:35 AM

Yea agreed, I took a closer look at the gear box its geared down. So its all on the prop pitch and the torque of the gear box addition.
