luckily and thank heavens i still have my thumb. just got three nasty gashes in it. one nicked a nerve (pins and needles) and another impact hit the bone.. i will never forget that sound...  i tell you what... this hurts like a M****F***. capitals. exclamation points. after i got over the initial shock of being hit by the prop, and of course the blood, i got really nervous because i couldnt feel the pad or tip of my thumb. thought for sure i caught the nerve, but so far feeling has come back with a vengeance. which is ok. id rather have it hurt now and know i can still feel my thumb then to have it not hurt at all and have no feeling. the garage looks like a murder scene though. blood everywhere. |

the more I think about it, the more sensible it seems, having "fingers" leaves enough dexterity for fiddling with needle valves etc, whilst offering more or less complete protection. Might get a bad bruise or a cracked bone, but no severing of digits  EDIT - fingers in the glove I meant, not in a general sense

i was starting my .48 on my test stand i built. got momentarily distracted.. thumpthumpthump! prop cut me to the bone. i had the feeling i should have used a wood prop but the apc is all i had. back when i was in the hobby full time i used mostly zingers. |

| Reginald | Hope it does heal well. I only use APC on electric motors. I do prefer wood because wood will cause less damage than carbon or very hard nylon props. In some clubs here wood is now no-no because of the higher noise they seem to produce. |

Sorry to hear that. In future, the best thing is to run a piece of fine sandpaper over the edges to take off the sharpness. Won't help much if the engine's running, of course, but I'm assuming you just slit your thumb on the edge of the stationary prop. |

Ouch.. Just spent 4 hours in the hospital getting stitches in my thumb. APC why you gotta make your props so sharp? |
