seng30904 I recently picked up one of these models that is in pretty good shape but missing the entire canopy and canopy base. Hoping someone here has a used one for sale from a crashed/damaged model, or know where a new unit can be purchased. Please PM me if you can help with a used piece. Thanks

Philosan1 Reply from FMS: “It is the programming lead, does not need to be connected permanently”

Well this doesn’t appear to be true if you use a Futaba transmitter and Orange receiver, because as soon as you disconnect this wire (spare channel 8), nothing works and the receiver flashes green and red! So, you reconnect, you get it in the air, the engine stops and the other servos work intermittently! Interesting!
Very glad it was our “ test pilot” doing the maiden or it would have crashed! As it was, he reckons he got a few extra grey hairs!
So, ripped the Predator esc out and fitted a 45amp HK ESC! On the bench, all nice stable responses!
Unfortunately by the time we got this far, the wind had become a gusty crosswind, not exactly ideal for another attempt, so will do a second “maiden” hopefully this Sunday!
I’ve got a Predator ESC in my FMS Beaver (fantastic plane!) it doesn’t have this odd wire, works perfectly, and looking at the FMS site, it appears it’s only this 30amp esc that has this wire! Strange!

Philosan1 I’ve just checked the FMS site for this esc’s manual, and while the photos clearly show this connector, it doesn’t say what it does! Just sent a message to FMS Support, see what answer they give!

A number of ESCs are coming with a connector to reverse motor direction.
I wonder if they using one of these in the Fox, now?

Philosan1 Just got the V2 version, unboxed and have already had to fill in the moulding marks on the wings and elevator! I would have thought being a V2 they would have eradicated this by now!
Noting the previous message, we sometimes get Eagle Owls chasing our planes, those have a 1.8m wingspan too!

ChrisJ800 I guess in Australia we just watch out for all animals! Ive had planes and gliders attacked by Wedge tail eagles and sea eagles that are both about 2.5metre span, and hawks, magpies and now plovers! I was watching 2 plovers do the same to a hawk yesterday as they were doing to my Fox.

biggy boy Last weekend at the club field two Bald Eagles where flying in formation with a bunch of us. At one point we were all saying should we land before they try to attack
I think they were more curious about the aircraft then anything else. It was a pretty cool sight to see them flying with us.
