Electrified CG Cub maiden yesterday. Windy and cold, but a great day and successful 3 flights on the new airframe. Yes!

With all the gear taken out of the old bird and a new airframe waiting - and the flying weather terrible here in NJ, lets just say she will be ready to maiden very soon.

Since I "treed" my prized Goldberg Cub, my Son has decided we should build another one together. Since my Dad and I started building when I was a couple years older than him, and it runs in our DNA, what could I say but hell yea!

Ordered a Great Planes Cub from Tower and it arrived two days ago. I set up a new work area just for him, and we have already finished the fin and rudder. He has a natural talent for building, as evidenced by his many LEGO and puzzle projects, etc.

"I really love building planes, Dad," he told me. I couldn't be happier.

"When we are finished with this one, can I pick out another airplane to build?" Haha, addicted already? (I'd better start saving for airplanes AND college.)

What started out as an impromptu flight with the Goldberg Cub on skis to test out the new HD keycam and the HD Flycamone turned into a rescue mission. After three batteries worth of successful happy go lucky flights, pilot error caused the airplane to wind up in a tree. The damage was minimal as a result of tree contact, but the process of getting it down from 30 feet caused it to become much worse.

On that particular flight, the Gopro was onboard taped on the cowling facing the landing gear. I wanted to see how the skis and the articulating gear worked together. After coming to rest in the tree, the Gopro became separated and fell to the ground. Amazingly, it still works perfectly fine and the file is intact!!!

Here area few stills.

The HD Keycams worked great. The HD Flycamone made a great "hatcam" as I didnt get a chance to mount to the aircraft. Of course, the Gopro is phenomenal as always.
