I rarely update this (read never) and figured I would post a brief update on what is occupying my time as of late. One reason is I really dont like writing about myself usually because its not that interesting....

Last year I started bike riding casually with a second hand bike. Little did I know it was a psudeo mountain bike (Giant Boulder for those who know) and a couple of guys I work with invited me to go riding the trails with them. One thing led to another and I`ve been regularly riding both mountain bikes and road bikes for over the past year. The Giant Boulder gave way early this year to a new Specialized Hardrock and a free Miyata road bike that was twenty years old gave way to a Specialized Roubaix Sport. Just this morning I rode for for 54 miles and next weekend I'm riding in a 63 mile (100 km) ride. It's really quite calming and relaxing to ride on some of the secluded roads in this area. They are relatively flat too!

The best thing about this is that I`m in the best shape I have been in since 18 (I'm 48). Lost 40+ pounds and feel great (I also sound like one of those late night diet suppliment commercials...).

But with the cooler weather approaching, my workbench is calling and those who know me, know I love Ivan Pettigrews designs. Well my next build wont be an Ivan's design, although about as close to an Ivan's design as you can get. Robin Fowler has been designing some brilliantly clever and obscure airplanes and has really caught my attention. So my next build will be his 90" span Leopard Moth complete with folding wings. A semi build log will follow soon.

Well thats whats happening in John's recreational life at the moment. See you all in the forums.
