Both my wife and I have been flying since 1980. My Father taught me to fly and introduced me to the thrills of aerobatic flight (full scale) around the same time. Skipping the Sportsman and Intermediate categories I entered my first competition in 1985 in the Advanced category flying an '82 Pitts Special S1-T.

That sweet little Pitts carried me into the Unlimited category in 1986 where I achieved quite a bit of success in local and national events, highlighted by winning the 1988 International Aerobatic Championships at Fond Du Lac, WI in the Unlimited Category http://www.iac.org/trophies/haroldkrier_cup.html.

I retired from competition aerobatics and airshow flying in 1992 having met a number of great people (including my wife), losing a number of friends (it's a very unforgiving sport), and having my share of adventures (good & not-so-good)).

My wife and I are currently the proud owners of an award-winning Ryan Navion Model B Super 260 which was purchased new by my Grandfather in 1951.

My aerobatic flying is now done with radio controlled model planes, which I find in many ways even more challenging than the full sized versions. They just don't cost or hurt as much!
