Quick flight on 3s to get a rough flight time for 3s 370 mah packs.. first flight on the pack and a solid 5 minutes plus with heavy throttle usage. Will be flying 3s set ups for outdoor and more open areas than the yard on epp planes.
Quick flight from earlier in the week. Trying some things for another plane.
Got a quick flight in before it started getting dark. Been making progress on other epp stuff slowly but surely.. was nice to get a relaxing flight in late in the day.
Been busy with epp planes this week.. cut out three, two 3d planes and a park jet that should be pretty cool and still have another 3d plane to cut out of my own soon. Been having fun flying the slicko kit mostly since i got it but dusted off the back up crack yak i made out of 1.3lb epp to try some power set up stuff. First time flying a crack yak in over a month but it flys well,i cut one out of depron to and that seems to be my favorite. Looking forward to finishing up the stuff im building and getting more flying in... i need to fly more than a couple packs a week here and there. Should have time to get plenty of flying in in a another week and get the current stuff finished.
The volume came out real low in the video(not sure how that happened).. you might have to turn the volume up a bit. Note this was one of the first carbon kit slicko versions and newer versions are also being offered using a wood spar on the wing minus the carbon support rods and epp truss for the tail for a quick simple build. Had fun at the BigSquidRc
Bash hosted by hobbytown usa orland. Aired out the cars a little, they had fun events like Rc Sumo,Demolition Derby,Shopping Cart Slam.. and ofcourse.. ramps to get some air off. Heres some pics for now of the events.. videos coming later.
Headed out to Westmont Cruisin’ Nights
. They set up a area for rc car demos and i brought out the losi 5ive t and a couple foamies. Had radio issues and didnt get to run the losi. Flew the slicko, put in a few flights.. most flying ive done in months.
Had a charged pack to run down,a bit windy saturday and i just ran cars....Continue Reading
Finally got a little air with it.. still on the look out for some bigger jumps but this was a pretty good area to run it.
Been running this lately, been pretty windy out for flying lately.
Windy but the spring weather is finally here, nice to get some outdoor flying in.
First flights with the kit at the dome. First time flying at a indoor venue.. a lot nicer than in the yard with all that room. The slicko is available at RCPLANEBUILDER
My first quad copter, its pretty cool. Flew it once inside yesterday when i got home and outside in the yard today. Will try some loops and stuff in a more open area when i can.
Was fun to fly something larger than 4-8oz foamies. The weather wasnt to bad,a little windy but not to cold. I almost forgot how much better the bigger stuff handles wind. This plane was one of my favorite purchases of 2011.. $68 shipped and it flys really nice, best bang for the buck i spent all year on planes. Would really like to see a pattern style plane for 2200 3s packs like this come out from them one day.. id get one for sure!
Haven't flown it in a while but wanted to try some changes. Need to get more flights on it and finish it up so others can try it if they like. GRX EPP 9mm park jet thread HERE
for more info on the plane.
A little shy of getting it under 4oz with the current gear i have but will get the really light weight build stuff ordered when i can for the next one. A 4oz 3d epp plane is very light, very noticeable difference in wingloading compared to the common 6oz or more 3d epp foamies out there in the 32'' size. Its about 30% lighter than most of the 32'' epp planes ive flown and even a little lighter than a milled depron f3p style plane i built recently though im using a lighter power combo in the slicko sl. With winter cold and high winds lately it probably wont see much outdoor flying but at the current weight it would be really nice at a indoor venue. Thanks to Kevin at RCPLANEBUILDER
for letting me try out the plans for these planes.
Eventually i'll make a lighter version in the 5oz range for indoors but this one does pretty good and will fly outdoors well.
Never been into the mini cars but this one rocks!
The hobbyking outrunner has nice power and weighed in at 21 grams, ran it on 3s for the second flight and 2s to start, gws 8x4dd on both flights. The orange 4ch rx bound fine and seems to have decent range but i'll fly it further out in calmer air when i can.
I started cutting out planes from plans. This one looked pretty cool so i got a set of plans from the pdf and cut one out and have tried a few set ups on it so far. The current set up at 6.4oz is a good all around set up but ive flown it at 5.8oz as well with less power and a lot more floaty in the air. The design isnt mine, but there might be plans available online for it. After cutting a handful of planes from plans im looking forward to trying more planes out. Its really not that difficult or time consuming.. takes about an hour taking my time to cut one out.. well a bit faster than that but the first one took just under a hour. Im told this one might be available in a larger size as well.. around 38''. It was pretty cool to see a full size epp plane from pdf plans come out of the printer at kinkos
