Really been liking the multirotors lately. Wind doesn't bother them nearly as much as planes. Once i get some more kk boards i'll be doing acro with the quads to and build one just for acro. So far my favorite set up is the suppo 2212 1400kv outrunners,30 amp esc's and 8x4.5 props.. plenty of power on 3s 2200mah packs.
Really like the suppo outrunners so far for the multirotors. The 2208 1450kv and 2212 1400kv outrunners are both nice on 3s set ups.. will try 4s when i can. The NTM 1200kv outrunners have been ok for 3s but need 4s for more spirited flying do to the lower kv. The ntm's have bolt on prop adapters which is nice but the bearings have quite a bit of play that you can feel at the end bell and im sure that cause's some vibration but its not to bad. Eventually i'll try some sunnysky 1400kv 2212s.. the sunnysky outrunners ive flown in the foamies have been nice.
Got this one dialed in pretty much,a bit tight in the yard with the tree branches though. Probably gonna build a larger one of these and a quad for acro flying.
Enlarged the plan and cut one of these out, flys really well. Will be building a larger frame version eventually for more powerful set ups.
Got a quick flight in and threw the cam on halfway through the pack. Really liking the 808 #16 cam but need to make a better mount for the best video.. velcro on the canopy is quick though.
Its durable.. The tricopters are more fun to fly for me but Im building another quad to mesh around with to. Still haven't found the ideal settings for these things but getting pretty close, lack of flying time these days makes dialing stuff in take a while
Triple banded the prop saver hubs to avoid boom strikes and they seem to be fine, really depends on the strength of the prop saver bands used. The canopy looks cool and helps a lot with orientation further away but its easily noticed when cross winds are blowing. This one is using a light rcplanebuilder power set up and flys well with a fairly light weight and is good for smaller areas like the back yard.
Went to pick up some parts to finish the current tricopter im working on and brought the green machine with to get a little flying in while i was there. A bit windy but not nearly as bad as the last time I flew it.
I really need to get some 4s packs ordered, would of helped quite a bit for flying up wind. Been scratch building and flying the tricopters about a month now so i kept it up higher and further out since it was so windy but it was still fun to do some aerobatics in a open area finally and get the board dialed in a bit for that kind of flying.
Took it with to the LHS and got a quick flight outside/taking it easy because i had a new cam on it. Flew well with the rcplanebuilder power set up. Also started on a prototype cnc cut frame for making tricopters in the 24''-28'' sizes with various power levels for mild to wild flying
Really liking this size overall, will have to see how it does out at a field on 4s packs when the weather warms up.
Flew nice in the yard, have some 4s packs for when I have more room to fly it as well. Will probably add a canopy to it later,it also has shock absorbing booms on the front that spring back and I added the same set up to the smaller one I built last week as well. Next will probably be some quad frames when I have time and get more parts.
Went to pick up some parts and brought my little tri copter in and let the LHS guys check it out and fly it. Still have a bit of work to do before the next larger tri copter will be flight ready and have a y-copter and some other stuff to build still in the coming weeks. Made this one slightly larger and made some changes from the v1.. ball bearing tail control is nice and the little digital servo is precise, dialed down the yaw for flying in the house so had to adjust the dual rates a bit higher over the mini z track.
Trying out a TV set up,had to almost double the expo on rudder with the added yaw authority the TV mount adds.
Really like the kk 2.0 board so put it in the scratch build t copter so i could dial it in easy and do a bit more with it. For one reason or another the kk 2 board doesnt seem to like analog servos or atleast hs 81s. Put a 9g digital in for now and the tail is solid and it flew really nice.. looking forward to some outdoor flying with it when i can.
Considering the props are not balanced, the servo is old and sloppy, the fc board isnt dialed in and there was some stiff breezes it flew pretty well for a scratch build i threw together with odds and ends and some elbow grease. Really like the feel of the t-copter in the air and will be building a larger one when i can. Its 13.1oz rtf and has plenty of power for the yard and a good size and weight for a back yard basher multi rotor
Finally got around to building a 450 quad. Very pleased with the power and stability and its not completely dialed in yet. A bit tight in the yard but once its dialed in and i get use to it a bit more im sure i'll fly it a bit less reserved. Looking forward to getting more flights in with it when i can.
Ive flown a few of the mini quads out there but still really like the mqx. Getting a 450 quad ready this year for cams and just to have a larger brushless quad. Looking forward to warmer weather to do more with quads and epp planes this year.
Quiet, peaceful and light breezes. Its really nice when you can fly in warm weather and decent conditions.
