Ive known for quite some time who Burt Rutan is like many, maybe a year or so after i started flying rc i learned about his involvement in the model world designing his own model planes and flying rc as well but he's a living legend in the fullscale aircraft world and thats what comes to mind for many even though rc probably played a big part in where he ended up in life. If you were to ask me who thinks outside the box in the full scale aircraft world his name would come to mind first.

Ive flown about 3 packs or so worth of flying the past few weeks.. crap weather or just didnt have the time. So sunday i was looking forward to getting the rust off the thumbs, maidening a new plane and getting a couple flights in with the carbon-z yak 54. The little techone yak 54 flew pretty well minus the prop saver bands i used departing and my thumbs doing the wrong things most of the flight. Didnt get any better with the carbon z yak flights.. more of the same and hit the ground a couple times with that one two.. good thing its durable. I made the best of it and wasnt going to let those few mishaps deter me and take advantage of a fairly calm wind day out here. Got home and took the little epp planes up in the yard.. two planes, two packs and both of them were drawn to the ground like magnets as well.. I wasnt even 5 seconds into the first flight in the yard and clipped a tree branch and got the first plane stuck . I'll just chuck today off as a ''Durability Testing Day'' .

Cut this out not to long ago,its a techone piaget with some changes.. the biggest change being i used 9mm 1.3lb epp to make the plane. The original techone piaget is made using 5mm epp in a heavier weight for its thickness,it works well and the original piaget has always been one of my favorite epp planes and ive cut out a couple using the techone piaget design and made some changes. Theres pros and cons between using 5mm or even 6mm epp and making the same plane with 9mm 1.3 epp but overall it suits me fine. I haven't been flying much the past few weeks and even when the weathers nicer i dont fly as often as many but it was nice to fly the plane inside for its first flight. It has some changes besides the 9mm epp used and seems to work well so far.. next flight will be with a offset servo horn to eliminate differential in the ailerons while using a single servo. Its currently 6.6oz auw in the video but while doing some weigh ins with different power set ups it could be built under 6oz with little effort and still have very nice power.. might swap the outrunner and esc to try it at the lower weight as well.
