Earlier today, I was able to take advantage of a break in the weather and join some local buddies in an activity we call "flyin at the Met". It's actually the parking lot for the stadium that is home to our local Minor League team the Birmingham Barrons which I believe is a White Sox Farm team. It's wide open and lots of smooth pavement to take off and land from. We try to take good care of the place and pick up after ourselves and nobody has ever said not to do it, so we meet there all the time. Here's a few pictures of what went on in one of the most calm and beautiful evenings we've had here in a week or so.

An experiment ...gone good? In an attempt to devise a method for mounting twin geared motors on a high wing plane, I must have gotten it right. The SuperCub with twin 350 C's and counter-rotating 9x5 3 blade propellers. -

A few more mods and this thing will maybe look as well as it flys. -

Pretty good shot of the sharpie art my daughter put on the "clipped wing" I did but never put on the Supercub. I guess I need her to finish it now.. LOL.. None of the guys want me to take the motors off the wing. -

One of Orangepeels new planes from 3D Hobby shops and what appears to be a T-34 Mentor in the pretty sunset background. This pic says a lot about the experience of "flyin at the Met". -

My bud Peter and his son are regulars at the Met. This is Peter's son's T-34 Mentor. His new hand painted - highly detailed pilot figure adds a lot of cool factor to an already cool war bird.
