The Hyperion cell tabs are nickel plated and require no preparation, but I trim them by about half. Do one tab at a time! Duh. Just to be extra careful I leave the shrink on one tab while I cut the other.
Here's the trimmed cells layed out for soldering. That black thing on the upper right tab is shrink tube which I leave on there for the first part to avoid shorting while I work.
