We are sorry that things didn't work out to supply you guys with a show last week, but we were just too busy playing at Hodges Field and getting ready for SEFF 2013 to kick off.
Nonetheless, we were able to get everyone all together to do a quick recording last Saturday evening (just after the big bbq dinner, but before the Night Bowling got underway). I'll warn you, though, this 207th installment of our show has poor sound quality, but it was fun recording it and maybe it will give you a little "feel" for what it's like to attend this great gathering. Also, we picked a WINNER for our Building With Foam Book Contest! The luck recipient was actually at SEFF, but we were unable to locate him to give him his prize. No worries, though. As soon as he gets me his snail mail address, I'll get it in the mail.
Our plan will be to do a better job next week summarizing the things we saw at this year's SEFF and maybe even have a few links for you guys then.
In this 206th installment of our show, we answer some listener emails, especially one very good one from Greg regarding selecting a new radio for his RC adventures. Also, we gave away a couple more prizes, and this week's winners were Korey B. (he gets a PhlatBoyz Micro Surfer Dude kit) and Ian J. (and he gets a NIB Pheonix 480 airplane kit). We have more great prizes to give away, so be listening in to our next couple of shows! Information on how to win is in this episode, and the address to PayPal your entries is THESRT10(AT)gmail.com. Remember, you don't have to be listening to our LIVE show to win!
Also, please note that most of our team will be at SEFF 2013 during the next two weekends, so there will be no LIVE show, but we plan to resume the LIVE gig again on May 5th.
CONTEST ALERT! RCPtero has graciously supplied us with a copy of Keith Sparks' "Building With Foam" book that you can win by simply sending us a picture of what YOU would like to build (real aircraft or your 'napkin drawing') once you've learned the techniques described in this great book. You can email me the info (my email address is in this show), or better yet, post it on our Facebook Fan Page. We'll take all the entrants names, toss them in a hat, and then have RCPtero draw the winner at SEFF 2013.
Deadline to enter is midnight, April 17, 2013. Good Luck!
In this 205th installment of our show, we get a great report from Navionflyer, who got the chance to attend the Toledo Weak Signals RC Expo this weekend. There's some new product news and discussion of some great RC craft that were there. Also, we gave away the eRC J-5 Cub that IFLYOS so generously offered up, and it was one by Todd Mezmarsic (Congrats, Todd!)
We're back again with another installment of our little show, and #204 is a great one! We get a great little update on some more improvements being made at our favorite flying site in Georgia from our friend Tripp. We get to hear all about that top-secret plane that Laine has been working on, and Laine and Tim give away two cool prizes to a couple of lucky entrants: Robert King won a Precision Aerobatics Thrust 40 motor, and Tom (Damage) Minnick will be the recipient of one of Laine's custom-built Li'l Cudas (Rx/battery ready!). There's still time to get in on next week's prize - an eRC J-5 Cub from Tim (paypal to THESRT10(AT)gmail.com). It's looking quite feasable that there will be a WFAIWTM in the Team Cobra camp at SEFF 2013!
We had a LOT of fun in this 203rd installment of our little show. Oh, and we have a special guest on this one - Mike Connor (aka BlenderBoy) from the RC Hangar Time podcast! We'll get a little insight on Mike's RC background as well as some great info on his latest passion, the Goblin 500 and 700 helicopters! Also, Laine pops on to host a special contest for our LIVE listeners where he gives away a brand spankin' new Castle Thunderbird 18 Speed Controller (won by our friend Vintauri). Be sure to listen in on this show if you didn't make the LIVE broadcast, as he and Tim will be giving away some more cool prizes in the next few weeks! Instructions are given on how to enter, and you need not be present to win (remember the email address - THESRT10(AT)gmail.com).
As for the weird name of this week's segment, I think you'll figure out what it means while listening.
The title of this 202nd show was thought up ingeniously by one of the members of our LIVE listening audience (Joel aka MetroGTi), and it really sums up our main topic this week! In this show, we'll try to provide you with some inspiration for some inexpensive ways to re-purpose some of that old Micro Gear that you may have laying around from a defunct or no longer interesting Ember, Vapor, or some other Micro plane you may have in the corner of your workshop. Oh, and we tried to give away one of Laine's "Lil Cuda" kits, but no one could guess this week's "Phrase That Pays", so we will try again on next week's LIVE SHOW.
Yep, that's pretty much all we did in our 201st show - just horsin' around. LoL We do, however, share some cool RC stuff we've found at some great prices, we give an update on the QSC Rogallo project, we share some listener emails, and we talk a bit more about the whoe"drone" situation going on in America, and how our hobby may be affected. We invite you to kick back and enjoy our ramblings for yet another week. Also, please consider stopping by our LIVE show sometime - some of our most interesting stuff has been popping up in the post-show!
Join us this week as Tim, Navionflyer, Karl, and I celebrate our 200 installment of the show! We share what all we've been up to this last week, as well as do a little PSA urging you guys to do your part to protect the sport that we all love. Also, we have Jim Reith from RACores on to share with us his visit last week to the WRAM show, as well as some other cool stuff he's involved with.
Jim so graciously shared one of his YAK 55 kits for us to give away during this LIVE show, and it was won by michaelkramer11! Thanks so much to Jim at RACores for this cool prize!
Joins us for this 199th installment of our show where we discuss all kinds of stuff relative to the RC world. We even let ol' Laine on the show towards the end, too! LoL
Be sure to tune in to our LIVE show next week (Number 200!) where we will get a WRAM show wrap-up from our buddy Jim (RACores.com), and there's also a chance we may have something to give away to one of our live-show listeners!!
In this 198th installment of our little show, we get a chance to visit with the fine gents from TeamBasementRC (Rod, Mike, and Yuvsky)! They share with us their goings on in the fantastic world of FPV in the Great White North, and boy, do these guys have fun! Also with us is Vintauri to share with us his visit to eFest last weekend and his most recent visit to our friends at Sig Manufacturing.
In addition to these interviews and our usual clowning around, we gave away a couple of the Flip 1.5 Multi-Rotor FC boards courtesy of our friend Paul over at ReadyToFlyQuads - congrats Coreman and Spadtrastic!
Be sure you check out our SHOW PAGE for some information on some give-aways coming up!
In this 197th installment of our show, we have the whole gang in the workshop for this LIVE recording! As well, we are pleased to have a special guest - Mr. Eric Kendall! Eric is the man behind the Wings For Wishes event that benefits the Make A Wish Foundation in the state of Montana. If you should find yourself within range of this event in August, you're certainly going to want to make plans to attend. If you are NOT able to attend, be sure to listen to this episode for instructions on how you still be able to support this great cause.
As you may have already heard, we had a problem with our recording of show 196 last evening (thanks to Microsoft turning Skype into, well, a typical Microsoft product). Since we discussed quite a few cool things, I just hated to NOT put a product out this week. That being said, this show is my attempt at a "redo" of some of what we discussed last night.
In this 195th installment of our show, we finally got around to doing something we've wanted to do for a LONG time - we streamed this show LIVE! Special thanks goes out to my co-host, Karl, for helping get this junk figured out. We didn't really publicize this, though some friends on Facebook helped to get the message out. We had a few folks listen in and the report back was that everything worked just fine (Thanks go to Vintauri, Hance, MetroGTI, Cloudsplitter, PCPhil, RCPtero, and you other guys that provided feedback for this test).
We talked about the usual things we normally cover - some new stuff, some videos, and other cools things we found that pertain to this great RC hobby.
In this, our 194th show, the whole gang is together to share all kinds of RC goodness with you! We've got Multi-Rotor talk, new items we've found, we answer some letters, and if you can tolerate it, we get a bit silly in this one, too.
Join Tim, Karl, and ol' Crash for this 193rd installment of the show where we talk a bit about some BIG planes, Open Source Radio Systems and hacks, some nice looking knock-off planes, and my new Quad project that I'll be starting soon. The name for this week's show is in relation to the special event that Karl got to help out with, so you'll want to hear this story. Also, after some goading from some regular listeners, we do a real "first" for the show and get into a bit of a Second Amendment discussion (don't worry, we don't plan on doing this again anytime soon LoL).
This week's show and links
Happy New Year! Show number 192 marks our first for 2013, and the beginning our our fifth season doing the RC podcast thing. This week, we've got Karl and Navionflyer sharing what we've been up to over the holiday break. Also, we're back with some more great news and links to some nifty-looking products that have captured our attention as of late.
As you may already know, last week's "Dear Santa" show went long, so we kept the tape rolling and we put together this "Year In Review" for you guys this week! In this 191st installment of our show (and our last for 2012) join me, Tim, Hance, and Dougbo for a short review of all of the goodness that this year has had to offer!
Thanks to all of you that have made this year so much fun, from our supporters and prize sponsors, to listeners and all you folks that make this hobby the greatest in the world!
May God bless each and every one of you this CHRISTmas, and may 2013 bring tons of RC building and flying for all!!
Wow! CHRISTmas has already rolled around again? Didn't we just celebrate it like 11 months ago??
This week, in our 190th installment, IFLYOS and I are treated to a couple of guests in the workshop - Hance and DougBo!! There's some news on the hobby front, and a couple of new items we've found to discuss, and when we get that stuff out of the way, we share a few listener's Dear Santa letters along with what WE would like to receive.
Hance held a little contest over at the RC Pilots Association Facebook Page and announced a WINNER of one of his Edge 540 or YAK 55 foamie kit, but you guys will have to wait until next week to find out who won.
In this week's 189th installment, NavionFlyer and I get to visit with Mark and Trish Carew, makers of those famous PhlatPrinter machines that we all know and love. They spend some time cluing us in on all they've been up to lately, including the OpenRail linear motion system and the new OpenBuilds site where we will be able to build and share our best home-built machines that help us to enjoy our RC hobby to it's fullest!
REMINDER - Next week will be our last show of the year, so if you want to send us your "Dear Santa" letter, we'd really enjoy sharing it on the show when we share what all WE want.
