Our last full day in Oregon. We took DJ to the airport early in the AM. It was just the three of us left. Tom went mountain biking with Gorgeflyer while Mike and I slept in. We eventually met up at Twin peaks for lunch. By then the winds were really rippin'. Lumber didn't look to be a good “angle”, so we left for Rowena\Mccall. Mccall preserve was so unstable (huge ups and downs) that we opted for Klickitat. Surprisingly, Klickitat was “lightish”, with only 10mph winds. Trees joined up with us, and we flew Weasels and combat wings until dusk. We closed out the day with a authentic Mexican dinner at Taquiero's in “upper” Hood River.

After a hearty lumberjack breakfast we loaded up the rentals and headed up to Klickitat. It was the first time for our "NW noobs" (DJ and Tom) to try out some really big inland slope lift. After spending the morning there, we headed over to the Dalles to meet GorgeFlyer and WinchDoc at a new untested site above the Dalles Dam. It was really rocking there with observed winds of 33mph (per Doc's Kestrel). The landings were as tough or tougher than Klickitat. With added hazards of an active road, powerlines and residential houses. Luckily all our planes survived..We ended the afternoon trip to Maryhill and Stonehenge, across the river. Mike got some good flights in with his Weasel at Stonehenge while we checked out the ever increasing number of wind turbines showing up in the Gorge. We finished off the night with pizza and beer at Double Mountain with GorgeFlyer. Good stuff it was.

We had planned to spend Sunday flying at Cape Blanco before heading back to Hood River in the afternoon. Because the fog looked so dense, we decided to abort early and head back. We bolted from Bandon early and stopped at WinchDoc's place in Portland before getting back to our "digs" in Hood. Basically we spent all day going from point A to point B.
