Par for me, I arrived fashionably late. Winds were supposed to be over 20mph. The problem was, that was for the late afternoon/evening. So the morning winds were at about 5mph out of the North, definitely a “floater morning”. Luckily by noon, the wind had increased to 10+ by noon and shifted to the NNE. This put us into the NE bowl and the fun began! With the prospect of great winds we had a banner crowd. Airspace was at a premium with lots of air traffic. Surprisingly, there were only two mid-airs (if you don't count foamy combat) and only a couple tough landings (crashes?). One of the highlights was Footy debuting his 4m KA-8. This Saturday was a very good day!

his last Saturday was a mixed bag. We had an unusual South wind. This worked great for the guys winching on the West side. On the slope we had some great flying at times, but due to a “off and on” shift to the East, we were often left looking for a quick place to land. Our group tried to stay in the SE bowl so as to make the most of the South to SSE winds. Not much more to report. No crashes and only one mid-air.

The chance of rain was at 40% and it looked like it would rain at any time, but our luck held out. We finally had wind, it was a little split on the NW point and gusty at times, but by golly we some 15+mph wind.
Obviously we spent most of our time on the NW point, but toward the end of the day we drifted down toward the East. At that point, we found there was a small, but working NW bowl. Because it was in the "shadow" of the power plant, flying could be very rough at times, but beggars can't be choosers. All in all, a good day.
