I was out of town this weekend. But heard from the guys there was some decent winch flying on the Westside in the morning. Also that the wind picked up and there was some decent slope flying later on. Also, Ben got some pictures of the completed "HOLLYWOOD" sign on the South side of the Hill. Looks like they'll be filming scenes for Rock of Ages very shortly, possibly this week.
Additionally, a few of us our heading for our annual Oregon slope trip (Tom, DJ and I), next week. Hopefully we'll catch some big wind.

Saturday was a 2 part day.
The morning was a light south wind, which was great for winching on the West side. In fact, Waste Mgt, I understand from Paul, has cleared the West top side of pipes and made for some excellent winching and practice landings.
The afternoon was was "windier" and had everyone in the SE bowl enjoying almost 15 mph out of the South. On a side note, they are preparing for a new movie (Rock of Ages) on the hill and a Hollywood production crew is busy setting up a 2/3 size replica of the HOLLYWOOD sign on the South side.

There was no wind this Saturday. Any wind we got was a thermal generated wind that brief at best. If you weren't flying an electric or a handlaunch you weren't doing much at all. As usual I arrived casually late, about noon. Unfortunately, I missed some winch flying. Paul had setup the winch for some practice, but had to leave from some "pre-mother's day" activities by noon.

I ddn't get many pictures Saturday, I was on call (got there a little late) and also wanted to test out my FVK Gillette (hadn't flown in years). We had a steady NE wind, about 12mph, so most people were working the slope (NE Bowl) when I arrived. Overall a nice day, none of the rain that was threatening arrived, and the clouds kept the temps reasonable.
