INAV-Radar is an addition/feature to the INAV flight control software, it relays information about aircrafts in the area to a flight controller running INAV for display on the OSD. The pilot is then able to see other aicrafts within range represented by A/B/C/... marker in his/het FPV googles

INAV-Radar does this by using LoRa radio (on ESP32 modules) to broadcast position, altitude, speed, name etc

It is HIGHLY recommended to buy exactly these, as the pinouts on the myriad of ESP32 dev boards can vary a lot.
Any other ESP32 board might require a custom build of the code that you'll have to research and do yourself.

Making a comeback at FPV with my DJI F450, I swapped my 8" LCD monitor for a brand new set of Zeiss Cinemizer goggles, it's much better. For now training around here, polishing the details before the spring is back for good and I can go fly in the mountains.

Few photos of a frame I built, I should maiden it tomorrow.

For now it's fitted with a partial DJI E300 kit : 2212-920kV motors, and the 9.4x4.3 propellers.
Since this frame allows props from 8 to 9.5", 320mm or 360mm between motors, I plan to also test with :
Tigers MT2208-18 1100kV, propellers HQProp 8x4.5 (should be the most agile)
Tigers MT2216-11 900kV, propellers HQProp 9x5 (should be overkill, but overkill is underrated)
Batteries : 3S-2200mAh, 4S-1800mAh, 5S-2000mAh (yes 5S *hehehe*)

Total weight with the current E300 motors and propellers and a 4S-1800 : 690 grams
I designed it to get as few things as possible in the air flow.
And only 8 screws for assembly.

First batch of videos, filming south-east of France with my Quadcopter, it's been a slow start for the winter season, atrocious weather, not a lot of decent footage available so far, despite the 10 or so attempts at flying, many times I had to cancel because of fog/rain/snow/wind/wind/wind!!!.

First video, on top of the Vercors mountains, in the Alps, south-east France, not a lot of snow, a lot of wind, will probably go back there some day when there's more sun and snow :

I crafted (with love) a best-of of the 100 flights I made during the past 5 monthes, in various places over France, from the ocean to the mountains, I hope you'll like it as much as I enjoyed visiting these places, I met many nice people always interested in this strange flying thingy.

From june to october, I wanted this as a full 2013 recap', but in the end I did not include from january to may because the quality of the Gopro 2 footage was vastly inferior to the 1080-50 from my new GoPro 3b, and I did not wait the end of the year because I had already way too much footage for a single video (500GB) ...

Winter is coming nicely and of course I'll go on with my usual mountain climbs, F450 on the backpack, with snow this time.
So yes there will be more, long live our hobby !

First part of a mini serie, using the non-linear-editing software Sony Vegas Pro to produce great looking videos from our aircrafts.
Actually using Vegas Pro 11, but it's looking fairly the same under v12, and probably still will in the next v13.

Starting with the basics, then later I'll try to cover the specifics of aerial videography.
Open the video in Youtube, and switch to HD1080 or HD720, or you won't be able to read the small details...

And turn on the captions, with the "CC" button on the Youtube player !

Another build for my quad, a DJI F450, the 8th version so far (I like numbering versions!), a full rebuild after almost 165 flights, this time crafted as a short range FPV cruiser.
(Many more photos below)

My goal was to have an easily transportable quad to film during holidays and around here in the mountains ("winter is coming!"), this quad and the groundstation will be travelling on a backpack for several hours so I need something light, reliable and decently shock proof. Means no gimbal, and means the Gopro 3 black camera well protected in its casing.

This is a serie in 3 parts, flights made this summer in south-western France (near the spanish border), around the towns of Capbreton, Hossegor, and Seignosse, over some famous surf spots, beaches, harbors, and golf courses :]

Emptied 37 Lipos in 13 days, for an average fly time of about 9 minutes, for a grand total of more than 5 hours of footage, from a GoPro3 at 1080 50FPS. All line-of-sight with my usual DJI Flamwheel F450 setup, more details are around there on my blog. There's no post-processing in these videos (apart minor contrast tweaks), or speeding up, or stabilization, or colorization, or whatever, you see what the GP3 saw. Resist the gimbal trend ! RESIST !

Hope you'll enjoy the videos as much as I enjoyed flying there !

How to configure the Naza and the Futaba 14SG and its bundled SBUS-2 receiver the RX7008SB, so it works in SBUS mode.
This is now possible since the newest DJI 3.16 firmware.
Before this, only SBUS(1) receivers would work.

This guide was made with the Futaba 14SG running the v 2.0.1 firmware (some fixes, and the speech feature).
I noticed a change in the way the PROG. MIX. is working between my previous firmware 1.2 and this 2.0.1
Be very careful that the Failsafe Force and Flight Mode switches are working as intented in the DJI assistant software !

Updated 09/AUG/2013 : Corrected the PROG.MIX. section so it works with the new 2.0.1 firmware for the 14SG.
Updated 10/AUG/2013 : Changed the order of the PROG.MIX. and FAILSAFE sections, more photos.
Updated 13/JAN/2014 : Newest 14SG firmware is now the 3.0 : http://www.futaba-rc.com/software-updates.html

- Futaba 14SG radio

- A multicopter ! For this guide I have a DJI F450 Flamewheel quad.

A new alpine video, filmed last week, on a mount named "Chamechaude", means the "bald rock" in old french.

Very special mountain, despite its only 2082 meters above sea level, it's the 4th peak in France by prominence (Topographic prominence), and 20th in Europe. Meaning, it's not very high, but everything around it is quite low, so it's looking taller, feeling like you're on top of the world.

It's a cool place, the west side is a very large plateau angled about 35-40°, leading to the brutal east cliffs. There's some ways to climb these (see one of these breaches, and the steel cable at 0:40 and 1:15) but if you're mentally sane, and you have a multicopter attached to your backpack, it is much safer to climb from the angled easy side. It's a moderately hard climb, the slope is quite steep, the path is going up and up and up, never resting flat.

First video was near the summit, and further down near the main ridges.
Can see the usual alpine choughs, and a couple of swallows following the quad, always got flying buddies up there.

The location : France, Alps mountains, Chamechaude, summit and ridges, altitude 2082m.

The second video was filmed on the return path, near a weird rock named "La Folatiere", got absolutely no idea why.
And it's angled, the same way the whole mountain is angled.

Another alpine video, filmed in june, on top of a mount named "Pic Saint Michel" (Pic = Peak), in the french Alps.
The place is a noteworthy summit of the The Vercors plateau.
Despite the place being moderately high (1966m), it's featuring a very impressive cliff on the east side, the valley below is at altitude 280m.
The drop of the cliff alone is about 500 meters, hardware failure was not an option.
It was not easy flights, there was a lot of winds and updrafts, as usual along such cliffs.
Its moderately easy to climb up there, not a hard walk, about 90 minutes way up.
From the slopped west side.
Because there's also path on the cliff side, aswell, not for me.

The birds seen at the end are called "Chocards", Alpine Chough, these are your best friends when you fly higher than 1500m around here. They'll follow you if you have food, and they'll also check that you're not going too close from their nests. Good companions overall !

First post of a serie, I spent the past monthes flying at various locations in south-eastern France, near the city of Grenoble (host of the winter olympic games in 1968). I've got several videos already made atop various mountains, I plan to do much more in the coming weeks, stay tuned !

This is the latest build for my DJI F450, flight after flight I ironed out all the small details, polishing things and this time its flying just fine. Nothing awesome, just a quad that works, reliably

Gains : 140/140/100/120 - 100/100

Little change since this, the timer is now counting upward, instead of downard from 10mins to zero then minus.

And another change since I made this, I removed the ability to remotely set the gains, its worthless once you've found the good values.
