The Woodworm spraying bods are on holiday, so progress on my workshop has ground to a halt: I'm Not installing NEW wood in there until the tree-munching bastards are all dead.

Enter the ageing DT125, my biggest field, and a strimmer that eats trees for breakfast: It's midi-MotoX time

A week ago our mallards were happily sat on 7 eggs.
This morning at 5am we were woken up by a serious thunderstorm that predictably ended in a hailstorm. (15mm diameter: rather large by euro standards) After the bulk of it had died down I went out to find the nest abandoned and FULL of hail.

With the ducks paddling around unperturbed in the vicinity I scooped the ice out of the nest in the hope of saving the clutch from a freeze.... and there were no eggs there. Not a trace. No shell fragments - nothing.

Then it occurred to me: The ducks had been shagging again... maybe the eggs disappeared recently and they're trying to fill the gap again. Who knows.

Still... thunder storm... Here's the 3 hour plot of it moving across the south of Sweden. Each dot is a lightning strike, and we live in the mad concentration in the bottom of the red area.

Right. If you're checking this blog you might well know laready that Ellie and I got ourselves a house. With 4 acres of land. and a big pond.

The retox has been significantly delayed, but there is good news. We're not goign to re-do the roof this year. Having spent the last month flat out pollarding trees, mowing fields and digging massive amounts of Veg patch, I've finally found time to start to sort out Retox Central: My workshop. the cieling was coming down in there: a poorly set up plasterboard affair. Not helped by the serious onset of woodworm in the shite wood that had been used as plasterboard support.

I'll eventually put insulation up in the ceiling but only after we've re-roofed the house in 2010. Until then I'll happily spend more money on heating instead of risking the influx of water from the hayloft above buggering up any insulation I've put in.

Step 1, get rid of old plasterboard. I'm a great fan of "hardcore" electrical work. i.e. if it's turned off at the switch it should be ok to cut the wires. Fun fun fun. After removing the lights it's spade time. I'll keep ya posted.

In the mean time here's a few wee photo highlights.

Well, the gliders have been resting on their shelves for entirely too long and I'm bored of not having flying buddies...

Last week I bought a little '32 powered chopper and have been trying to get it correctly trimmed.

Realflight is recommended for anyone who's going to do this, and I'm actually growing to LOVE the smell of 2-stroke fuel.

I'll be E-baying the Voltij, Sagitta dnd Skua S15 before too long ....

I've had a couple of PM's again wondering what the hell's going on.

Not to worry: Even though I'm not posting here, it doesn't mean that I'm not doing anything with planes.

Each evening I get home and scratch my arse, then do something vaguely plane-ish. It's simply not note-worthy progress though, and I don't bother to do a writeup.

I'm still flying. That's what counts!! ... and while I'm flying I've got the passion to build rest assured

Well.. just a noticeboardy thing... as so many people seem to read this ...

Does anyone happen to have a set of plans for a KielKraft Phantom "Control line trainer" A photo would do....

The kits seem to be like hen's teeth.. any help would be appreciated... I know there's one on E-bay, but I don't really want to build is as CL machine... so the kit is useless to me..

Cheers people!!!

Past indescretions have included frequent failures to do things properly because a lack of tooling gave me an excuse. The fundamental principles of lazyness dictate that I will cut corners where possible... and having just sold my Canon EOS 300D I can afford to get a couple of tools that have been missing from my armoury.

BAUHAUS are a large chain here in Sweden and elsewhere too I think... They stock MANY manufactures and have an excellent choice in tools...

First off was a bench-mounted Belt/disk sander: I'm aware that these can be picked up for peanuts, but I wanted a decent one. REXON make a few, but the BD46A has by far the sturdiest construction around, weighing in at 25Kg with decent SOLID features. You can lift it by the tiltable work-table, and still the table remains a faithful 90° to the disk. Yummy. That wasn't cheap... but hey... you can pay less but you'll notice where you saved your money before too long.

Second (last night) I decided against a band saw as I have plans to make one of a decent size once I get the space... so a Scroll saw was on the hit-list. with the EOS budget seriously bitten into, I was having to limit myself to 1000Kr (about £80) and was aware of the fact that I would have to walk past the nicer models... Ellinor - the voice of financial reason personified - was with me and said "ooooh looook... a Bargain Area!!!" and like a bloodhound on the scent of a wounded animal, she set off dragging me behind her....Continue Reading

After taking leave of my senses I went off-line for a bit and didn't even touch an RC object for a few months... Now back in the saddle and flying regularly.

After sprucing up my Voltij, Mamba and Venom, I'm now setting too on the Sagitta Projekt 2 and the Skua that I never finished building.

After that, one of the Jart V's will see the light of the cutting board, and the ASW might even get a look in. I'm eager to finish: there's more plans that I'm working on
