I think there are some problems in the head but it can be the tail belt and or tail mechanism.

Well my good buddy Perry finally got a shipment in and I've been thinking of taking my 9303 to the next level so I finally did it.

Guess I can go back and forth with this setup but my guess is that I'll probably switch over fairly quickly.

Well folks I've had this plane in my closet for almost 2 years now maybe even more. It was sort of a gag gift from my sister one Christmas and I thought hmm I have the parts why not try and make it a sloper.

The carbon fiber strips really make the tail and the wings quite stiff. I have left them removable for transport but if they flex too much I'll just make them permanent.

Parts breakdown:

3 x 5g TP servos (of course I had to pick the best of the bunch)
2S TP 730mah lipo

This all comes out to 9.1oz AUW and seems like it could be really fun. I'll report back when I get back from the Hills.

Well I took some video of my newly glassed funjet and put a nice powerplant in here. I have heard comments at the field like holy and bat outta hell so I decided to doppler it and see what the dealio was.

I get:

Pass 1: 145mph
Pass 2: 145mph
Pass 3: 150mph

I'm sure if I had more time and my camera wouldn't auto shutdown at 3mins I could easily get to 155mph. As well, I can always go up another cell and add some more power!!! After a short cool down run all components came down pretty cool. What a great all around setup!

Well I decided to post up some results on the pairing of an ARC 28-58-1 and a 6904 HET fan. It's quite apparent that this setup really needs 6S to come alive and so I plan to do so this weekend when packs come available.

Well I've been bugging Dave from lightflight.com for some time to finish up the Demon build which Atom did for him. So with a little inspiration I took it from him and finished her up.

So far the data is pretty impressive:

ARC 28-47-2 2170KV
6S TP 3850 Extreme packs ( 2 x 3S 3850 Extreme packs)
Suppo 100A ESC
5V UBEC

5x5 APC E prop 57A (1.1kW) 36k rpm - 170mph pitch speed and 4.93lbs of thrust

6x4 APC E sport prop 72A (1.3kW) 32400rpm - 122mph pitch speed and 5.46lbs of thrust

I would have put the Eagletree on there for better data but I had a run in awhile back with the Eagletree and a Suppo 100A ESC and I didn't want to burn out Dave's electronics.

Merry Christmas Dave, this one looks to be a pretty fast wing!!!

Well I decided to try something out since I had 4S2P or 2 X 2S packs ready to go for some tests. I have done 4S 910 tests and they hold up pretty darn well so I thought maybe the 1320's can hold better voltage.

I guess the data speaks for itself, it looks like the 910's hold their own better than 1320's because the rpm data shows a major delta. From prior calcs it looks like the 910 packs are putting out about 7k more rpm. It could be the condition of the packs.

Test 1 was with 4S and 4.1x4.1
Test 2 was with 4S and 4.5x4.1

I would have expected the 4.1x4.1 to be much higher rpm.

Well after sanding, painting, sanding some more, not liking what I saw, painting again, sanding, painting, sanding, and then sanding again. It's finally done.

Guess I'll stick some 4g servos and a 10g outrunner in there to set some speed records!!!

p.s. I will be using Gary's hold down setup for this ride as it will be the easiest to get to the powersystem for switchouts. I saw Gary's and it held down real nice and tight!!!

Well I thought I'd give my good buddy at the field a run for his money. Unfortunately my competitor has piledrived his FJ into the ground doing some amazing vertical work lately.

I hear he is back at work building the next fast FJ, I'll be waiting!!!

Well I decided to upgrade my A4 and run it with a ARC 1T. The trusty 2835 has done really well but tops out at around 550 Watts and I want a bit more speed for the A4 as well as some better climb.

Here's the graph for it, about 750W and maybe more as my pack was dropping voltage pretty bad at the end.

Note: I added another graph which shows the fan at a constant load for longer peroid of time. This shows for the same current load as the 2835 the ARC 1T is getting about 2-3k more rpm.

Here is a graph of two motors I recently tested. Namely the 2215-5.5 and
the 2217-04. They have a current rating of 45 and 55A respectively.

The first two spikes are of the 2215-5.5 on 3S and then I put the 2217-04 on 4S for the next two spikes. I then mounted this in a Lynx and had some real fun with it. It sure seems to have alot of punch and know I think that you need a combo of speed and thrust to get to your desired mph.

The last combo put out 600W which is enough to get your heart pumpin!!!

Well I was trying to hit 2500Kv but hit 1800Kv. I guess I now have a better idea how to hit that number but will test out this one to see how it goes.

I just ran up a 7x7 prop to see what kind of performance I would get. On 4S I get over 6lbs of thrust and 144mph pitch speed. Oh I'm liking this one!!!

EDIT: I added a new graph after changing the timing on my ESC to high. It seems to run better now and has a bit more pep!!!

Well folks I think I may have found a really nice economical EDF setup that folks can use on airframes that weigh less than 1.5 lbs.

The setup:

HXT 2835 (380S) 3900kv Brushless Inrunner

The performance is in my Eagletree graphs below. First run was on 3S with a 3S TP Extreme 2200mah V2 pack and the second run was with a 4S Evo 20 2500mah pack.

Time to get an anemometer to figure out efflux speeds....
