For anyone who has read my blog's, you might notice that I have been real particular about making sure, what I build is all original.

As a scratch-builder, checking out other design's and plain observation get's the creative juice's flowing. The wright brothers weren't the first to fly, but they did make major breakthrough's, that have influenced how plane's are designed today.

For whatever reason, I was reading up on Copyright laws, Patenting, Creative commons, and several different aspect's of how to keep anybody from using what I spent so much time designing, like most of you.

Basically the only true way to protect what you create, is to build it and not let the public see it, or get there hands on it. Once you make it public, it's all over with. The biggest loophole in all of it, is reverse engineering. Reverse engineering, blows all of it out of the water. Simply put, as long as whoever obtain's your design's legally, and reverse engineer it, and make some improvement, and then put their trademark on it. There's nothing you can legally do about it, and for those of you who do put your design's out there for free, unless you have ppl sign an agreement, or contract that is legally binding, if they want to make your design's and sell em, good luck at trying to get compensated, especially if they aren't in the United States.

To all it may concern,

This is a post to, Thank all of you, who have checked out my postings and pictures.

I know I'm not the only one in the same situation, yet for someone like me, who live's out in the country in central Missouri, it's far and few between, people who share my same interest's and have an outlet to share with.

Lol, I'm pretty much in my own boat. In my area, most of the groups, hobby shops, etc. have closed, scattered to the wind, or just not close enough to be a regular part of.

I'm an open minded individual that can see both inside, and outside the box, and do everything I can, to stay original even if I do, piece together different templates to get the result I'm looking for, until I increase my skill's in building from scratch.

I have many different interest's, but I'm finding in my journey, where they are all coming together to benefit all.

This blog might be a little off the wall, but that's me. LOL.

Maybe we'll find more out there, that are the same.

Here's some pic's of my first attempt at building a full fused version of the Recycled R/C Extra 300S which is ending up an entirely different plane. All the measurements are different, tail configuration, and the way the airfoil is.

Well, after having to re-glue the wood motor mount, back to the foam countless number's of times, I came up with a better way. See Pictures below. Let me know if you would like any info.

Here's the latest build. After a month and half of tweakin, modification, and experimenting with reinforcement out of recycled material's, I'm finally satisfied with the outcome.

Today, was my first flight with this bird that I didn't have to repair or do some modification after a emergency landing when my receiver started to glitch because of interference from a power line. Hard belly flop with no major damage.

What started out as a downloaded plan of a Big Nasty/Regal, is now my version of an Extra 300S. Not sure about all the rest of you R/C pilot's out there, but in my case, the plan's never print out in the right scale, never line up, and in the process of building, I experiment with many different building technique's.

Anyway's. In building it, I doubled up the foam for the fuselage with 2 round bamboo piece's (from an old bamboo blind that was broke) sandwiched in between, the whole edge of the fuselage is reinforced with flat piece's of bamboo to keep from popping the foam on landing's.

The wing is a Kfm4 design to stiffen up the wing along with the flat piece of bamboo.

No carbon fiber was used in this whole plane. Newly designed aluminum can wire hinge's were used for ease of control surface removal. Beside's the foam and electronics, all hinges, control rods/horns, and reinforcement, are made from recycled materials. Control...Continue Reading

Because the P-38 is one of my favorite warbird's, I decided to build this Funder & Lightining from one of the free plan's available online.

It's a fairly simple plane to build. So far it's crash survivability is really good.

When printing out the plan's it didn't print at 100%. It printed at 92.4%, so the wingspan turned out to be 33 inches instead of 35. Fully loaded with a 3s 1800 mah battery it weigh's in at 16.5 oz's.

It does not like windy condition's and waiting for a calm day to fly it.

In building the plane, I ended up having to do some reconfiguring of most of it, because I didn't quite build it exactally as the plan's go. Instead of building the wing with the KFM2 airfoil, I built it like I had been building my own design of wing's, which is more of a true airfoil. I used some regular dowel rod's instead of the square one's like recommended. I ended up having to extend the control surfaces out to 2-1/2 inches to get better handling out of it. Using a 2208-17 motor with different prop's to see what it like's best.

It's survived 4 really hard hit's and only broke the horozontal stab where it wasn't reinforced. I don't think the first extra 300 I built would have survived the same crashes without a major overhaul.

This is probably one of the smallest plane's to date I have built. Will post more about it as I get to fly it more. I am impressed with it.

Still in the work's, will take some pictures. It will be a stiff wing look alike at first, it's just a concept. It's looking pretty cool so far. In these pic's, the neck is still longer than what it actually will be. I just stuck it together to give ya a general idea.

You have to keep in mind, I didn't go look for spec's, picture's or even intently watch the movie to make this thing scale. I started looking at wing's and part's I had laying there and this is what came out, along with an idea in my head of what the banshee look's like from the movie.

Keep in mind, I'm one, to want to build something different than what everybody else, has or what you can buy, in the hobby store's or magazine's.

Here's my latest build. I been missing my Extra 300, so I decided to build another one. Remembering the slight fault's that it had, like the tail being floppy. Kept that in mind, and how I didn't like the way it went together, I came up with a plan.

I wanted to give it, somewhat of a full fuselage, and also, was thinking that I have been wanting to build a biplane, so.

This creation is all original, using piece's of template's, ( and customizing them a bit ), of several different plane's, and piece's, that I had already cut from other stuff.

The main side view of it, is basically an extra 300 but made a bit longer. The bottom piece, that make's it have the bloated belly, is from a Long-EZ. The wing's are made from a template of my own design, using the wire frame from an old dust-mop. The bottom wing, is straight, with symmetrical shape top and bottom, like what an aerobatic plane would have. the top wing is symmetrical, with a 5 degree sweep back. The rudder is of a customized Funtana. Still have to do some more wiring, and linkage's. It's gonna have a clear cockpit, so I can put my camera in it. Still tossing around exactly what to do about motor. I have a Titan 775 in it, only thing, 11.1v is not enough for it. Still got some tinkering to do on it. This is just a start entry. Haven't taken any picture's, but is still in the thought process.

Part of the reason, for this blog, and all the rest of my blog's, are to increase my ability in writing for, 1 of the online course's I'm taking.

Any comment's, reply's, tip's, hint's, etc., are welcome to help me improve.

Anyways. So this project has to do with, an old para-foil wing kite, that I had as a kid. Along with the parafoil, I somehow, acquired another kid's kite, that is triangular shaped like a para-glider. Thinking of mounting it to the front, so that basically the whole wing will end up like a delta shaped wing. It will be a pusher. Control surface's will be more like elasto-wing surface's. Design's are still being processed in the ole noggin.

I know that this para-foil, when I was a kid, under good wind condition's, was hard for me to hold onto, so by just guess-timation, I'm thinking this thing could easily carry between, 40 and 60 lb's. Just a theory. Will crunch the number's as I go.

What do you all think?

As you read my blog entry's, you'll find, I'll be doing build's like these, cause I'm a different bird. lol. I find alot of symbolism in the phoenix, fire-bird, actually have 2 trans-am's, to be restored. All the plane's I build, are made from Dollar tree foam-board, fan-fold foam, ( I know it's pink. Got a better price on it ) and spare part's. Reuse/Recycle. lol.

This plane started out as a $8 foam kid's glider, I've had sitting around for a couple year's. Messed with it, here, and there, trying to figure out, exactly, what I was gonna do, with, or to it. reconfiguring the tail at the moment, but these are pic's of it flying, and what it looked like a few day's ago.

It has 6 aluminum strip's embedded in the foam, to stiffen the very flimsy wing's. They weighed 1.9 oz's, per wing. It has a 54 inch wingspan. I did use 2 bamboo skewer's, from a dinner, in Michigan, on our trip, to stiffen the wing's at the body, by poking them through, and gluing.

The cockpit/canopy are from a sky-fly. The twin boom's are from the sky-fly's also, one had to be repaired with a short piece of carbon fiber. This plane is actually set-up on 5 of the 6 channel's, til I maybe, put a drop parachute, or whatever. Definitely gonna be my camera platform plane, as soon as I get it tweaked just right. The wing-loading on this plane is out of this world. Less than a 1/2 oz. Weigh's in between 25 and 30 oz's depending on the battery. Switching to the 2208 Grayson Hobby since this thing is a slow-flyer, and also cause, I had the v2 on it, and it didn't really like it. Wouldn't hurt to wire up some light's and mount the batteries at the wing tip's. With the new tail configuration, it will probably lighten up a bit.

Not sure, but later, I might coat the wing's with some light weight glass or maybe, colored packing tape. Haven't decided yet.

Plane I put together, that started out as a Long - EZ. It's the one in the top left corner of the in-formation pic's. Posted some video's of flight's, hit the contiue reading to see em. Anyways. Started out with that, as the front part of the wing and body. The main part of the wing, was the wing's off a YF-23, with a double layer of foam to make em stiffer and to give a KFM airfoil, and the aileron's off the Extra 300 with a little cutting. Made a lower fuselage so it would have the inlet duct's. It started out having slightly angled out rudder's for elevon's, but those are now on the firebird project. It's now using the tail section off the Extra 300 also. It had a flat straight wing like normal when I first built it, but on my initial flight, I tossed it into the wind, It did a loop over my head and crashed, breaking the cockpit all to piece's. It sat for about 6 to 8 month's. Last week while I was talking to a friend, and watching some youtube video's, I said something about setting a plane up for him, and it dawned on me to cut a 1/2 inch wide slit down the middle of the plane, pull the center support out and make it have dihedral. The firebird, and parkjet both have the cockpit's off 2 old skyfly's, that I literally, flew the wing's off of, because I modified the control surface's and didn't add any wing support and folded em in 2 doing a loop. Thought I'd share with ya a few thing's I've been doing in my plane building, that is kinda cool, I think, and a bit different.

Couple year's back the Hobby Town U.S.A. closed down, so it's hard to actually go and get any kind of supply's except to order stuff online, and you know how that is. Never know when it's gonna actually get to you, and in what shape.

I made sure, I hit the Hobby Town up before they actually closed and picked up a ton of stuff for little to nothing, so I have a bit of a stockpile of hinge's and ball socket's and what not, but I like to use my other idea's, just to save on using up, what is hard to replace.

So, I have the usual carbon fiber stiffener's of various size's and shape's, and some dubro plastic hinge's and I know alot of guy's are using tape hinge's, but I have another idea for ya, for that too.

I used to work for a roofing company and happened to get some leftover aluminum roof flashing that was a return that we couldn't give the guy a refund for, so it went into the scrap pile. Pulled it out, took it home and got to tinkering.

What I do, is cut the aluminum with some metal shear's into about 1/8 to 1/4 inch strip's anywhere from 25 to 40 inches long, then I take, and embed them in my foam, like you would lay a 2x4 down to support a floor, or what you do when building a balsa plane.

Hello to all with this blog. A little bit about myself. I'm from Missouri, out in the middle of nowhere. Since high school, and even before, had a love for airplane's, aeronautics, and aerodynamics.

It wasn't until 2009 that I was able to get into the electric hobby of plane's and up til then, always had some type of electric car or truck. Getting into the hobby really sparked my interest in Renewable Energy with Brushless motor's and Lipo battery's.
