Do you remember the first time you got hooked on your hobby?
I do - it was at the Free Flight Indoor Nationals at Nottingham University in April this year (2012).
I only went along because I'd been asked to get involved in setting up a new website for The Vintage Model Company and thought it might be a good idea to get some background on balsa free flight planes.
I walked in and was immediately entranced by these silent, butterfly-like objects, gracefully circling the upper reaches of the huge sports hall.
It seemed impossible that propellors could turn so slowly and yet keep a pretty large model aircraft in the air!
I was truly hooked however, when I saw my first pistachio scale model - how could something so tiny and fragile have so much detail.
I had to build one.
Luckily, one of the perks of working for a model company is that I could choose a kit from the range and build it for free - yippeee!
I chose a deHavilland Tiger Moth from what used to be Veron's Tru-Flite range and I'll detail this first time build on the Vintage Forum over the coming days.
Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to contributing and learning lots on these forums.
