For those who are new to RC flying I have chronicled several subjects that over the last year and a half I had to figure out on my own. I have posts on flight simulators: pros and cons, choosing a place to fly, batteries, repairs: types of glues and some basic techniques, etc. The posts are short and designed to just get you pointed in the right direction.

AS I have ben flying RC for just a year and a half, I have thought many times that I wished I had had someone tell me what I didn't know then that would have saved me money and grief.

I have found this site particularly helpful with specific questions I had....I follow the Park Zone Warbirds section... and it has been a great resource.

But I decided to begin chronicling my experiences and the trials and lessons learned. It is not about specific building tips or modifications...it is more of an overview of the evolution of my journey through learning about the various equipment and accessory needs I was facing, what I learned about them, where I went to find what I needed, and the advice I got (many times after the fact) that helped me for my growth as a pilot.

If you are just starting out, I recommend this as a place to find some basic knowledge. I suggest you look at the archive and take them in order...right now I have only 5 posts. Enjoy!

My latest blog entry has to do with my experience, and frustration, as a new pilot trying to find suitable places to fly. Previous posts have dealt with simulators, understanding the basics of flight, and choosing my first plane.

My landing gear was perpetually beat up, and I came up with this modification to my Corsair.Name: IMG_2352.jpg

This is a site directed especially to those who are getting started and want to glean information that I had to learn the hard way. It is my hope you will find it helpful and that it will save you time and grief!

This is a record of my journey into the complex, yet rewarding, hobby of radio control airplanes. I learned a lot from friends, hobby store employees, online sources, and a ton of trial and error over the last year and a half. It is my desire to offer those of you getting started something that will save you some of the time and heartache I went through, and get you flying successfully more quickly!

Check out my Blog, "Diary of a New RC Pilot" at www.rcav8rs.blogspot.com!
It's for those who are getting started, and is not the typical product reviews and videos of personal flights.

I think you'll find it informative and easy to read!
