Shamelessly copied the gimbal from Mark with some minor changes (dumpening rubber).
Works great :-)
Dampening brackets for new version from ebay:

the rubber I think is not a rubber but silicon much softer that rubber so hopefully will work better :-)
flight test coming in spring LOL, maybe sooner if I get some time to finish new disco.
I forgot to add that with new gimbal I will have too cut down the bottom plate (shelf for gopro) since the motors and dampening plate are...Continue Reading

Tried to get some footage of destruction from the hurricane but there was no easy access anywhere, and big guys in the air were busy.
So I had my little fix after few months of no flying :-)

Here is my newest GS in a back pack, fits everything with radio and antennas :-). Built in handle is tall enough to use as an antenna stand. :-))
made skeleton from plywood to fit inside the back back to retain the shape and everything is mounted on the plywood, there is also plywood floor co nothing gets squeezed there :-)
So the entire "frame" is L shaped to fit inside.

Comments welcomed :-)...Continue Reading

Simple 2 pcs wing joiner

Originally the joiner was introduced on RC groups by Ira several years ago.
Since many of you guys have Skywalker and struggle with one piece wing this is a great option to make two piece wing.
I am using this connections for last 6 years and never had a nasty surprise.
All you need are CF arrow shafts, arrow aluminum inserts, 0.158" piano wire, 0.158" drill and your choice of glue.

Cut the wire to the desired length.
Drill through aluminum inserts to enlarge existing hole so your music wire fits easily.
Cut off the wide part (flange ) of the insert.
Determine how deep the insert will go in to the arrow shaft. I actually use two inserts one at the end of music wire and the other with flange at the end of the arrow.
apply the glue around the insert and push it to the desired depth in the arrow shaft.
Use the flanged inset to prevent arrow splitting.

Since Skywalker wing has two spars, there is no way it will ever fold in flight....Continue Reading
