continuing my uvax journey.
This quad loves to have high disk loading. I went down to 10" prop and now using 4s4400 pack. with bit of tuning, uvax is flying pretty well. I really need a new frame though, so I will be working on that. I also got some 10mhz crystals and burned a new firmware, so I need to install that.
I really prefer smaller quad, as it is more rigid. once I get new frame plate cut, I should be busy with 40mhz setup getting it dialed in before I worry about getting mag and baro working well. 40mhz should be more stable with smaller frame as well.
I have also gone to 4S pack on my black KK setup. I love how it handles. I have also gone to 12" blade with yellow canopy quad being setup for acrobatic flying. (scale stick set to 4) wow, it is responsive handful to fly now. LOL. fun stuff. 4S at 1.3kg is like muscle car. steady and powerful. 3S at 900gm with 12" blade is like a porsche.

well, I modded my UAVX board for offboard 5v and 3.3v. using Dimension engineering bec's, but I may just make a small board with 2 linear regs. (may add 2nd set of esc connector on this small board if I want to make octo) I had to remove r22 from my uavx board to get 3.3v to work on my uavp board.
v2.0 firmware is loaded and TX is calibrated. I am using airtronic RDS-8000. tried some hand held spin up and everything seems to work ok. yaw seem to cause power to increase. (climbing, since my load is really light) have to if I can adjust the pid to take it out.
Did some flying and took this video to show how stable it is.
bunch of hands off hover. enjoy. working on FPV setup at the moment.
on the side note, my uavx pic is here, so I can start that when I get a chance. I also got my 900mhz downlink system working with the camera that came with it and my old 7" screen dvd player. have to finish wiring it up and mounted it in my quad for some fpv flying
well, added a cheap aiptek camera onboard for some impromptu airborne action. literally zip tied it on some improvised mount. worked ok, but not great. need to workout a better damped mount next Both are flying very smooth and nice, but because I am using epp blades, I am not going to do anything radical until my new apc blades show up. and I am finding that I prefer to fly the 12" instead of 10. I have 10-4.5, 11-4.5 and 12-3.8"s coming next week. will put 11s on the 750 and 12s on the 700. should be fun experience. I am also planning on getting my fpv rig up and running this weekend. we will see.
I went ahead and retapped all the base set screws on my dt750/700 motors with 6-32 and used SS set screws. It is much better now. I've also figured out a nice way to added some rubber damping between the base and the frame. (no drilling either. ) should help even more with the vibration. yellow one weighs in at 1030gm with 2200mah 3S pack. so right at 1kg.
I cut all the motor shaft down, and rebalanced all the props. now, vibration is way down. (almost gone) so I am happy about that. should smooth out the flight even more. after that, I will be adding a camera mount to the nose instead of the canopy. will see how smooth I can make this thing fly.
I do have couple FMA Copilot from long time ago, so I think I will add them to one of my quad. I am thinking of adding a Y coming out of the copilot and put a small servo on it to see the calibration. If I calibrate before arming my quad, it should be safe. I know this turns it into semi draganflyer, but it is something to do .
ON UAVP/UAVX board front, I am still debating on what I want to do. I think I will start with just UAVX with magnetic HH and accel only. (no baro or gps) that will allow me to get it going with minimal investment. will build a quad for it for now since I have most of the part, but I am starting to become interested in tri/Y6. not in any hurry though, as I have to add 5v and 3.3v reg on uavp/uavx board. if i can get something flying in 1 month, I will be happy. KK setup is flying really nicely, so really not in any hurry at all.
I spent some time tuning my quadcopters. now, they will hover hands off. very nice flying machines. what I need to do next, is replace all the set screws on my motors. may be retap them to 6-32s from 3mm. I've had one come lose and caused a broken prop after hard landing., so may be some blue locktite is in order. (I hate locktite) will see if retapping will help.
on the side note, I dug up my old uavp board that I picked up year or two ago. time to upgrade it to uavx and make a new copter (may be y6, but start with quad) fun to do stuff for winter....

well. got into quad and back in to RC. been a few years.
dusting off my gear and having some fun. all good. some are out dated and needs updating, which I will do slowly.
been having a blast flying them. (and crashing them lol old habit never dies)
I had one nasty crash with my black quad. (rx pulled out. oops and it went full power on all 4 motor. ouch) 3 props, 3 booms, 1 e clip(on the motor) and I am back flying. luckily, it was on the ground, so it did a half loop right into the ground at full. now, the wires are secured much better. otherwise, so far so good. Now, I am dusting off some uavp board I got off ebay that I never built up. looks like i need a new chip for the latest firmware . should be fun.
