I flew about 1/2 mile FPV with Spektrum 2.4ghz (farthest I have gone)

I need to balance props (some have had a strike or two)

The Hoverfly Pro board is very stable. I am flying in 10-15mph wind gusts and it is hard to tell.

My gear almost doesnt fit in my car any more

this is my first flight on my Y-6 with my diversity ground station so I pushed my limits a little farther. I usually fly in a 1/4 miles square. So today I went out almost 1/2 mile (this is on 2.4ghz spectrum full range. I had my goggles on so I am not sure what my singal strength was on my DX8 and AR8000.

Next weekend I will push it farther and have someone look at my DX8 when i am out far.

Y-6 and Skywalker flew well but my T-28 has a serious issue... it needs a lot of left aileron in order to fly, perhaps 1 to many crashes and the wing has some extra flex or bend to it.

Next time out I will put my gopro on my skywalker and fly LOS.

6 Attachment(s) New Ground Station
Discussion / Posted by Adidas4275 / Jan 16, 2012 @ 12:28 AM / 2,248 Views / 0 Comments / Reply
I just got my self an EagleEyes Ground Station for Diversity so I decided to build a temparary ground station to house all my gear.

Eventually I will move all this into a Pelican 1610 that will house all my camera gear, Y-6, Gimbal and Ground Station, but for now a snapware container will due.

I like it because it is water tight, so some little rain wont kill it and it will float above the holes that I cut in it. I have done some filming from a jet boat on a river and so water resistance is something of importance.

The Ground Station includes:
2x 5.8ghz Foxtech Receivers
1x 5.8ghz Patch Antenna
1x 5.8ghz Turbine CP antenna
1x EagleEyes Ground Station
1x 5-1 3mm barrel connector for power
1x Fatshark cable for my Base Station Goggles
1x Haier 7' LCD (shows static)

I also have a Foxtech 3" LCD 5.8ghz DVR that I can use to record the video form the ground station, or velcro it to my Transmitter (DX8) and use it for framing while flying LOS

Okay enough with the talking
22 Attachment(s) Just Started building up my Skywalker

Starts with Paint

I will update this with more posts about the hardware and such.

It will start of as a LOS plane with Spektrum Rx and move up to a FPV with autopilot and a LRS of some sorts eventually.

I have been flying FPV with my quads and Y-6 with good success so a Skywalker with a GoPro will be a fun addition.

So last September I was asked to do some video work, by a friend, for a fishing lodge in Alaska.

So I took my multiwiicopter scarab quad with a directly attached GoPro and flew LOS over water, out fishing for the first time.

It was not PID tuned well and my piloting skills are not great.

At that time I had only been flying RC for about 8 months and quads for 3 weeks.

So this was my attempt. Not great but it gave me the desire to get better.

I am now flying a Y-6 with a HFPro board and a gopro on a gimbal flying fpv and LOS.

I am also building a skywalker and I own a Sony Nex-5n that will go on the Y-6 some day

Hope you enjoy. (oh and I lack any editing skills)

Trying to Film a Align 500 from my quad.....
Discussion / Posted by Adidas4275 / Oct 05, 2011 @ 07:05 PM / 2,697 Views / 0 Comments / Reply
Yesterday I tried to film a local pilot fly his Align 500 and it was really difficult.

it moves so fast around the sky and is relatively small.... it only took up like 5 pixels in my goggles many times.

But it was a blast to try.

had a fun flying today, there was a HUGE gas powered plane, some dirt bikes and a 4x4 out at the field today....

so i had the first chance to follow/chase and film something other than dirt.

Still trying it get it to fly smoothly..... I really want to mount the gopro on a gimble and fly through a 480line small camera...

I also noticed my 4xKDA 20-22L motors are having to work harder to pick up the gopro.... i am only getting 5 1/2 mins of flight time, I stop at 10.8v...

I was getting close to 8 before my rebuild, so time for my quad to go on a diet.

thanks for all the help guys

I will be in Alaska for the 3 days weekend, Friday - Monday and I will be learning to take video of the wilderness

I had to basically disassemble my whole quad for it to fit in my carry on luggage

and man lots of stuff to take for carry on only.

I should learn a lot and have a great time.

I will post pics and some videos up when i get back.

here was a little dusk flying I did last night

First up is my new mount for my Multiwiicopter Scarab.

I was having Jello effect in my GoPro when it was just stuck to the bottom of the quad with 3M tape so I decided to use some rubber isolaters from amazon and nylon nuts. the carbon plate was just a simple payload plate for the Gaui 330x. I drilled some new holes, widened some on the Scarab frame and its on.

Tomorrow I will have a full list of my planes, Helis and Quads posted up with some video.

I will be traveling to Alaska on Thursday and I will be taking my quad to do some AP and video of fly fishing and the widelife.

should be a fun learning experience.

I have only been flying quads for about a month and I just today go my scarab to fly stable and with no Jello in the camera.

I will post some videos soon.
