Well, it's been 2 weeks since I did the maiden on my 450. This little heli has been putting a BIG smile on my face every time I fly it. :)
This shot was taken by dawnron1 this past Saturday during the 3DHS Fly-in, in Grapevine, TX, at the 114th RC Aero Squadron (www.114thrc.org). Awesome camera work, bro!!! Liv2Fly also shot a quick video of my "noobie" moves. :D I am still waiting for more pics and the video to be sent to me. More later. :)

Well, this weekend was just awesome :) Me, Waltj2k and Feather had a great time today, with calm winds for the most part of the day, and yesterday, wind lots of winds. :rolleyes: The guys from the 114th in Grapevine, TX, just rock!

Well, after 7 weeks of waiting, my Brillelli 46GT is finally here. :) Just like some guys told me and as I thought, the wait was well worth it. This little engine looks AWESOME!! I love it!! :D
It's not gonna take much longer for me to finally have this plane in the air. It's been almost 2 months since I put my order for the combo with Brillelli. I've been buying my stuff little by little and now I am down to the Ignition cut off and the carbon fiber spinner. :)

Extreme Flight Yak-54 74" & Brillelli 46GT - Building - Part 2
Going slow, I've finished bot stab/elevators assembly. I've also finished the left wing assembly. :) Today, I got the servos in the mail. After doing some research, I've decided to drop the 5645 servos because they get kinda sloppy soon, centering is not good, and they are slow. The next choice up would be the 5985 servos.
Now, here is the deal. The 5985 servos are the "old" 5945 servos with a stronger case, everything else inside is the same. That would double my choice for servos and it would give me the chance to get a good deal, since the 5985 has replaced them.
Well, I found that deal. I am very happy with the AWESOME deal I got on these 5 NIB 5945 servos. :D
The throttle servo is a 225MG, that I already have in hand.
I called Brillelli this past Monday to get an update on the engine, since it's been a month since I ordered it. I was told they got new parts in and that I should have the engine next week. Still need to buy the ignition cut off and the Mejzlik 20x10.

Been working on the Yak here and there. Finished installing all the control horns and one stab is fully completed.
Extreme Flight Yak-54 74" & Brillelli 46GT - Building - Part 1
Got started on the build of the Yak. Following the manual, I started with the elevators assembly. The blue tape is painter's tape, and I used it to avoid the excess of epoxy to go on the covering. It comes off really easy and leaves the area around the horns clean. The phenolic horns are awesome stuff. For the first time, I won't have to buy after market hardware for my plane. The quality of the hardware included is outstanding. :)

Received the Yak in the colors I wanted. :) Extreme Flight shipped the Yak the next day they arrived from China and I had at my door 4 days later (including the weekend). It's a big box. Specially when compared to the boxes that once sat at my door.
For now I'll be posting only these pics from when I opened the box. I only checked it out really quick, and put it back in the box. I'll start building in a few days with more pics and info. But all can say now is that I can't wait to fly this beauty.
Oh, I love the removable stabs. :) No need for glue, no hassle, no "take your time". :D Pretty much all you gotta do is glue hinges, install landing gear, mount engine, install electronics.

Well, my plans for this year was to move to glow with the Fliton Edge 540 and then get a EF Yak 74" with a glow engine. Things really didn't go very well with the 540. 2 dead sticks. Fixed the LG on the first time, on the second time I just got really upset and steped on it. :p Yeah, sometimes it's hard to control my anger. But I am working on it. :D
Anyways, after checking the new pics from costumers on extremeflightrc.com, I noticed people using a Brillelli gas engine on the Yak 74". After a quick search, I was at Brillelli's site looking at a combo they have. It's a gas combo. You get the Yak 74" with a 46cc engine. If you are in this hobby and you never thought (or at least dreamed about it) about getting a gas plane, IMO something's gotta be wrong.

I thought to myself: "Why wait, man?" So, I ordered the plane/engine/etc combo last tuesday night. EF is receiving a shipment end of this month, and my plane is in there. They don't have the red/white scheme in stock but it is in the container, and that's the scheme I want. I am not a big fan of the black/yellow one.
There you go, guys. Malves' going gas. :D I still gotta wait 2-3 weeks for delivery, thou. :( But I am sure the wait will be well worth it. Pics and build thread will follow. :)

Fliton Edge 540 - A few pics of the build
I have a desire that many, many of us do have - to fly a bigger plane. How many times did you build a plane, flew it a few times, and then you think "Man, I wanna get a bigger plane."? I know I did many times, if not with all of my planes.
I have a dream of owning a plane in the range of at least 72-74". Read: at least. :) But I'll be very happy when I get a 74" sized plane.
Well, there's the cost of batteries, which scares a lot. It was really hard to make myself pay $100+ for my TP 4 cell packs. I know there are cheaper packs out there, but I believe that "you get what you pay for" applies in this case. I tried other packs other than TP and didn't like the results. With that in mind, it is easy to realize that it would be almost impossible for me to drop a significant dollar amount for battery packs to fly my "dream" plane. Add to the cost a charger that can handle those packs. Not to mention those packs won't last forever. One good season of flying, and you'll have to replace them for the next one.
So, what should I do to be able to fly bigger planes? I found my answer with in glow planes. The LHS sells one gallon of fuel for $15. Yes, I'll have to buy fuel, and that means spend money. But at least it will be in small portions.
I think what broke me from electrics was to watch the guys at the field fly their glow planes. The sound just make it look "cooler". I am taking a break from electrics to see what happens on the other side of the fence. I will either like it or dislike it. They both have their pros and cons. I have a feeling the Edge will be my first step to bigger planes and I am very excited and hoping for a great Saturday.

Real Flight - My new color scheme for the Yak
I fly many hours on G3 during throughout the week, and I am always flying online. The Yak's all look the same, so why not do my own unique scheme. Did some search on the net, and I found one that I liked. A couple of hours later here's my new Yak for G3.

3DHS Aspera - Part 1 - After 4 flights
Well, I didn't post build pics of the Aspera because the plane builds so fast, I didn't even thought about it. If you work on this plane non-stop, you can have it built and ready for the next morning in one night. :)
About 3 weeks ago, I was able to fly my good friend Feathermerchant's Aspera. He actually let me fly some of his 3DHS planes - Both 47" and 55" Extras, the Katana and finally the Aspera. I really liked all of them, but I just fell in love with the Aspera.
So, I had the Aspera in the box when I finished my Extra. The Extra, fluttered and lost a wing in flight. The Extra is a great flier and I still miss my first one, especially because the second one wasn't in par with it. After the crash, I never looked behind and went back home to start on the Aspera build.
The setup I am using on it is the same as the Extra, as follows:

X-40 Opto Pro
TPXV2/2200/4s (awesome battery!!!)
11x7E
This power set provides 680W at 46.2A and makes the Aspera climb like a rocket, providing unlimited vertical. With a 12x6E the watts number jumps to 720w, and a 13x6.5 will let you pass the 800w mark. I love all of these numbers, and love even more my TPX V2. It holds voltage extremely well under full throttle.
I am loving every second I fly this plane. I am really hoping it will teach me well how to draw straight lines in the sky. :) I have passion for 3D flying, but my interest on precision flying is increasing at a high rate.:)
Ok, enough talking. Hope you guys like the pictures. I wanted to take pics outside but, with all the rain, it had to be inside.
