Hello!

Here is a new video, I moved the battery back to be able to put the camera right in the front. A small bit of the nose is still visible but it does not obstruct the view like before.

Nice HD onboard video over a frozen lake (Sognsvann, Oslo) (1 min 50 sec)

Now I really need to get started with the FPV gear :-)

Hello,

Here is a new video made with my pusher plane over a frozen lake.

Nice HD Aerial Video over Sognsvann (Oslo, Norway) (4 min 25 sec)

Works good but I cannot put the cam right in the front because of cg. I'll have to try to move the battery back. This way, next time the front view should not be obstructed at all!

Cheers!

Got some sun back for testing the new wing with a reduced motor angle. Flies really nice, the angle was definitely too high and pushing the plane down.

This new wing can carry the weight of the GoPro without any problem. I could hardly feel the difference in handling the plane even if the climb rate was a bit reduced.

Here is the video:

HD aerial video from my scratchbuilt pusher plane (2 min 15 sec)

Next steps, install speed and altitude sensors, shoot nice videos, try FPV, ... lots of stuff to do !!! :-)

Here is the video from today's tests:

Testing a larger wing on my pusher plane (1 min 30 sec)

This new wing is almost twice as big as the previous one. The plane flies much slower and more stable. The wing loading is down to 27g/dm2.

It has plenty of power but the climb rate is not that good. I think the motor angle is a bit too high and pushes down too much. I'll have to try and fix that.

No on-board video this time because it was snowing a bit too much to put a cam :-)

Hello!

Here is a short aerial video taken from my latest prototype plane.

The plane is a mix from several scratchbuilt planes: the fuselage is from a previous version of the plane, the tail is a V-tail I made just to see how it performs and the wing is from another plane.

Characteristics of the plane:
wingspan: 100cm
length: 90cm
weight: 500g
wing loading: 45 g/dm2 = ~ 15oz/sq ft
controls: elevator, rudder, flaperons.

Here is a video made from 3 flight with the onboard video camera facing different directions:

Aerial video from different angles with scratchbuilt pusher plane (3 min 48 sec)

The plane is not very stable and a bit difficult to fly. For the maiden flight I had the main wing angle of attack too high so it could not fly at all, well just long enough to end-up on top of a tree:

All but one are scratchbuilt planes. Most of them are built from Depron. The lightest is 36g and the heaviest is about 500g.

More photos and videos of all of them are available at: http://www.fleurey.com/weblogs/franc...category/Avion
