I figured I'd do another update, seeing as it's almost been a year. I've come quite a long way since then, and I have a bunch of newer, nicer planes. I gave up on foamies for now, I much prefer balsa and fiberglass. Easier to build with and get good looking results in my opinion....Continue Reading

I got really fed up with the stock landing gear always bending back, coming loose, and causing my plane to tip over in the grass. I was bored yesterday, found some thin steel in the garage, and started working. I riveted and epoxied two pieces together, drilled screw and axle holes in it, and modified 5/32 nails for axles. I put on big dubro wheels also. All in all, I think I now have an indestructible set of landing gear, and it cost me a grand total of about $4+ the parts I already had lying around.

I bought an ECO8 charger to replace my PZ charger that came with my Super Cub. It didn't seem like I had too many options for powerful, reliable power supplies in the sub-$40 range (high school limits you a bit :/ ). However, I did have a spare 300W pc power supply sitting around.

I used Andy Batts' guide on converting a pc supply to a hobby use PSU and ended up with this-

All in all, it was worth 30 minutes work, and I already had parts lying around for it, so I now have a basically free, 40-amp, 12-volt DC monster of a power supply. Now I just need bigger batteries...
