I know this has absolutely nothing to do with RC, but maybe some scale rc boat maniac might help me out...
I was @ lake Como, Italy yesterday and saw this wooden runabout... and ABSOLUTE THING OF BEAUTY. She looked like a water missile, hydrodynamics and aesthetics stolen from back in the '50s. Mean, yet lean machine!
Can't get my mind to think in anything else but her, I just want to know who built this awesome boat. My nonno (grandfather in Italian) had one that was built at a cantieri in Milano, not a Riva, but quite pretty anyway, so I have this thing for these babes that I just can't help.
I almost cried when I saw her moored at Varenna, just meters away from a Riva Ariston worth US $150K. Can't even start to guess how much this might be worth. Have been googling searching for similar designs, but found nothing close to her...
Anyone have any ideas of what this water missile might be??? Name seems to be Alberdina... home port is 's-Gravenhage
I had one of the best flying days of my life yesterday, at a coastal slope located about 2.5 hours from my home here @ Chile.
We had offshore 12-16 knots winds blowing in, a fully sunny day -which is not usual climate for this time of the year- and a fleet of ships to fly, amongst which were my Flying buddy's 4mt Lunak, my 4mt Alpina 4001 and the star of the day, my all moulded 3mt Duo Discus from HF Modell.
This was her first "real" flight, since the other ones I had had with her had not been quite successful due to several reasons. Yesterday, she really showed her stuff, and proved to be worth every penny I paid for her... She really flies wonderfully, with a speed, elegance, penetrating power, tracking and aerobatic capacities that really surprised me. Under yesterday's conditions, she is definitely the best ship of my fleet.
