Using a scrap piece of lumber and some other random stuff, I converted my portable work bench into a portable electric motor test stand.
Using a Hobby King servo tester, lipo battery, Castle Ice 75A ESC and my WattsUP wattmeter, I'm all set to test a motor for one of my builds. For larger motors, I will strap a ten or more pound weight to the rear lower cross bar to prevent tipping.
Motor mount block is attached to portable work bench with a couple of 1/4" carriage bolts, wing nuts, large area washers and scrap hardwood.
The motor mount is made from a Simpson Strong-Tie: 2X4 Joist Hanger #LUS24 that I found in my scrounge box. You can pick these up at your big box hardware store for about 50 cents. I drilled holes in the flange for my motor shaft and x-mount.
The servo tester works great. Plug the ESC into the output side of the servo tester.
