I'm primarily a silent flight guy. I do have a couple power planes and enjoy them, but the bug for powered flight never really grabbed hold of me the way soaring and sloping have. I should also say that I'm relatively new to the sport: a little over ten years. I don't fly as often as I'd like to (and consequently have not developed into the pro pilot that most of you are), but I still thoroughly enjoy it.
By profession, I am an educator. One great privilege I have among the several classes I teach is to offer an elective Flight 101 class to our high school students. It covers the legends, beginnings, and history of flight, as well as introduces the basic principles of aerodynamics and aeronautics. It also offers the opportunity for the students to visit a local FBO and take an introductory full-scale flight. As a culminating project, the kids build an RC sailplane, and we head to the slope or field for a hands-on practicum.
You probably will not see much here by way of photos or personal info. That's not meant to be unsocial or rude, but simply an attempt to be prudent. Do, however, feel free to PM me. I look forward to getting to know you--as well as this media allows.
