The angle works well-
The final flying weight is 3913 grams, wing loading 22.98 oz/sq foot.Apparently the roll rate of the DG 808S is mediocre,so coupled ailerons and rudder is what l have got, with full rudder throw.I have also worked out a better throwing technique using two hands,my left hand will below the cockpit area and my right hand at the base of the fin. With a strap for the transmitter,it leaves both hands free,it should be okay to launch by myself, using this method.
Everything is in the fueslage box required for flying-extra ballast,CF rod, electrical tape for the winglets, scissors, rubber bands for the wings, tailplane, winglets.I also added cardboard chocks to stop the fueslage sliding from side to side. The wing boxes only cost $10 including a reel of tape, and they are strong-cheap & practical. They fit in on an angle between the seats of my small 4 door sedan, and by moving the passenger seat forward the fueslage box fits no problem, and by putting the back seat down also. The transmitter and 12 volt swallow charger go in a separate flight case, and l can charge transmitter and receiver batteries at the slope. It was worth spending the extra time making these boxes, and it only cost $10 for everything,by using the original kit box and outer as well.I can now load the car in less than five minutes, and charge batteries after flying for one hour.I am using 2100 mah batteries for the receiver-varta fast charge-15 minutes-4.8 volt battery pack.I built a charger facility so l can charge 8 varta batteries at once,as my futaba 4exa uses the varta 1.2 volt batteries also.
the winglets are only narrow but high
The rain has not stopped-just balanced, so l decided to take a quick pic whilst the wings are still on.
