We have decided to re engineer the Spark wing to eliminate the landing gear and other changes to support an effort to establish the Guinness world record for electric jets at 250mph. At least that's our goal, breaking the record will be easy because it presently stands at only 166mph which most serious EDF jockys exceed every flight. The custom designed all carbon fiber SM110-45 fan is scheduled to arrive from Aussie next week

Here's a pic of the automated life cycle system I'll be using to test to death a few packs soon. For more: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...9#post28567678

The YAK100 Spark Hauler is very tail heavy when the Spark is clamped to it's belly so I had to load my heaviest packs in the nose. Rather then let it become excessively nose heavy after the jet is released I decided to mount the packs on a sliding tray tied to a gear motor and lead screw which will pull the packs back about 12" as soon as the Spark is released. Here's some pics of the setup:

DropDemo (3 min 9 sec)

Taxi and release test video for my Spark Jet Lifter. This is my attempt to get more flying time in on my Spark. My local grass field does not support it and the only decent paved runway is 3 hours away one way. So the last 3 seasons I've only gotten in a handful of flights.

9000 Watt EDF Static Thrust Test (1 min 45 sec)

Static thrust of 20lbs is a little disappointing considering XPS bench tested the fan at 26lbs with this power setup. I'm redoing the inlet channels now and going to try to incorporate an Air Salley inlet ring to clean up the inflow stream
