The Radio Shack 15amp power supply has served me well for the past 5 years...unfortunately, the Hyperion DuoII charger could only charge my 6S 5000 packs at 4.5amps before it would thermal and shut down.

I found a "gaming computer" power supply at Best Buy today and scooped it up; A Corsair GS700. 700 watts (vs 240 watts from the Radio Shack) and 54 amps (vs 15) make this unit capable of pulling much bigger numbers...and it looks cool to boot. Changeable LED colors and a fan that I think was used to blow Fabio's hair around in commercials make it even better! It took me a few hours this afternoon to reduce the insane amount of wires coming out the back to a 4-pack of + and - leads.
If I can charge both my 6S packs at a 2S rate at the same time, then Ill be happy. Testing tomorrow.

I had a great time at the 1st Grayson Hobby Fly-In. It was held in an indoor soccer complex which was perfect in every way. A lot of air traffic but I managed to only get hit once.
I also won a 2200mah 3-cell in a raffle. Thanks Grayson Hobby

Up until now Ive been using the cheap kit lens from my old Canon XTi on my 50D, which hasn't been doing it justice. Granted, I can get some ok results from the little EFS 18-55mm, but the lenses are junk and (to me) it shows in the final product.

Today I said what the hell, and strapped on the 16-35 f2.8 L-series lens on the 50D and took a few test shots. Its a $1500 piece of glass and I was pretty nervous at first, but once I locked in the AceOne and let her hover, I felt much better. The results are pretty decent... alot better than the 18-55.

Pics shot as the sun set at around 6pm today.

Heres what happens when it snows in Atlanta. We aren't setup to deal with snow, so only the major highways get salted. The result is a bunch of cars trying to climb a slight grade... some more successful than others. This was just in front of my house. Im sure there will be hundreds of fender benders by tomorrow.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on this EPO foam monster for review.
Roughly 80" wing span with twin 1100kv outrunners, retracts and hidden control horns. This is a very nice looking sport-scale rendition of the C-47.
Looking to maiden this weekend. Review to follow.

Heres a few pics from one of the reviews I'm working on. The Tower Hobbies P-51D is a 40" sport-scale rendition of the Mustang in EPO foam. She flies like a Mustang should; great tracking and lots of throttle required to keep her moving. Stay tuned for the finished review.

Bradley (bsbauman) got his paws on the new UM beast the other day. He ended up maidening it this evening at SMRCF. What a great flying little model! It has enough power for almost any maneuver, and flies very smoothly. I got a chance to take the sticks, and I must say, it's not like any other UM series plane I've flown...the Beast just feels locked in. Solid little bird.

I hooked up with Blake of BShipmanFilms.com, and Clint Esposito and Paul Smith of FMX East out in Douglasville today and shot some photos. I grew up riding dirtbikes and watching Crusty videos, but being up close while these guys jump is amazing.

I hijacked the wife's Kodak EasyShare DX4530 and bolted it to the gimbal on my Gaui 330X-S. Took it out the front door and shot it up to 100 feet or so. Sun was setting but still grabbed a decent pic.
Not too bad from the little 5mp Kodak...

I just wrapped up an in-depth review of the Gaui 330X-S Quadflyer.
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1273435

Very fun little aircraft to pilot; it's a nice break from airplanes and heli's...although it flies much like a helicopter. I just picked up a camera gimbal (unfortunately after I was done with the review) but I hope to report on its quality and performance soon.

The goal is to take 30+ clips, submitted by various users, and edit them to create a short video showcasing the GoPro in action. Here is my entry

Heres a few pics of the 330X-S with my new Aero Sky camera mount kit. Went together very easily. The mount tilts up and down only. Right now, its swinging free which is great for shooting video. As the 330X-S pitches the mount stays level. The servo will be added soon for photography purposes.
Test flew it earlier. Very stable with all the weight below the COG.
This little guy will make a good addition to my big AP heli, for tight shoots or any time I dont want to fly the big boy.

The camera is the new Contour 1080HD which by the way is a very nice little HD camera that I think competes w/ the GoPro HD well. it doesnt have still cam or video out capabilities, but seems to match the HD video produced by the GoPro HD.

Heres a few pictures of member Andrews421's Stinson in flight. It uses the same power system as the T-28 and flies very well. The flaps allow for some nice steep approaches.

My wife and I went to Wings Over Atlanta at Dobbins AFB this past weekend. I can say with certainty that there is nothing in the world like the sound of two General Electric turbofans in the F18. The sight of any fighter with the afterburners lit is a close second.

Heres a few pics from our DFC session today. Got some good pics of the F-16, which I really enjoy. Bradley has let me take the sticks many times on it. Like most EDF's, its a break from the slower prop models and a challenge to fly. Whenever I feel like Im getting bored w/ my current lineup, Bradley lets me fly the F-16 for a few circuits... what a rush! The helicopter is the new Blade 120 SR. Great little heli as far as performance goes. Its fast and agile, yet hovers well....Continue Reading
