Here's the new Airfield F6F Hellcat available from Nitroplanes.com. Once again, Nitroplanes and UPS got the Hellcat to my home in 22 hours. The Nitroplanes Shipping is the Gold Standard in the industry. AWESOME!

Needless to say, the scale and detail of this new 1400mm Hellcat is stunning. I painted the control horns insignia blue, light blue and painted the prop hub silver. I'll be flying this bird on Sky Lipo 14.8v 40C 3300mAh batteries. Can't wait to get it in the wind!

UPDATE-I put two flights on my Hellcat this morning (28 Sep 11). I used a 4S 3300mAh pack for both flight. The aircraft was a little tail heavy with those batteries. I added an ounce of weight and she flew great. A 4S 4000mAh pack would be perfect! This F6F looks so great in the air and the flaps are awesome. I was shooting approaches with full flaps right at sunrise with the wingtip lights showing up beautifully. The Hellcat looked and flew amazing. The retracts are working perfectly and I was flying off my dirt runway. She's a keeper!

Back in 2005, I built the Dynaflite Butterfly 99 inch span powered glider from a kit I purchased from Tower Hobbies. It was originally powered with an O.S. 15 FP and covered with Monokote in an Edwards AFB Flight Test scheme. After watching it collect dust for the past four years, I decided to convert it to electric using the E-Flite Power 15, 60amp ESC and a 14.8v 25 C 2200 mAh battery. The conversion only took 45 minutes with another 30 minutes devoted to reheating/cleaning the Monokote. I have four flights on it now with the new electric set up and I'm very happy.

For those of us who grew up with Carl Goldberg Models, the Gentle Lady was one of classic sailplanes from Goldberg. Needless to say, when I saw this beautiful ARF in a Tower Hobbies advertisement, I had to add this classic sailplane to our fleet. This ARF is nicely packaged and the instructions are the top quality product you expect from Goldberg Models, now distributed by Great Planes. Evelyn and I are looking forward to slope soaring this beautiful model and using a hi-start for local thermal flying.

UPDATE: I've flown this AT-6 twice and I'm very impressed! The power was much more than I expected using a 3S 40C 2200mAh battery. Truly a great plane at an awesome price.

Here's a few photos of the new Airfield 800mm A-1 Skyraider from Nitroplanes. For any Skyraider fan, this is one nice looking 800mm warbird. After an initial delay in my order being sent, I contacted Nitroplanes Customer Service and they quickly shipped this plane to my home in less than one day. Big props to Nitroplanes!

Update- Flew the maiden and the aircraft really moves on a 2S battery. Faster than the 800mm T-28 and T-6. Inverted flight is stable it but barely holds a knife edge pass on a 2S battery. A 3S pack would do the trick. Very nice Skyraider!
