I love big floaty planes even more as I'm getting older. It's not just my age, a new 59, but my heart and breathing problems. So even though I have my own flying field, moving my bigger planes around, in and out of doors which is a very dangerous place for a model airplane like my 80" Pawnee is a pain. Your only completely safe in the air. So after a lot of reading here on this forum about the Fun Cub I got me one and I am so glad that I did. I would like to add that I just became a Plus member to repay RCG for everything I have learned her for less than .18 cents a day!! The Fun Cub's wing is close to 60" and is your typical Cub wing and man does it have a set of flaps! This was the best packaged plane I have ever bought and fit together like a set of Legos....hey, wait...aren't they both made in Germany? It does everything my big Pawnee will do and I can walk it out the door with one hand, I do have to remember to watch it out in a windy field though as it will blow over.. I have my trusty old John Deere Gator fixed up as my designated plane hauler so it's low and easy access bed makes it simple to put my gear in it and a nice work table out in my field. If ya don't have one you need to get you one, it's FUN!!! Dave/zeezee......BTW, for any of you younger guys out there take a old hippies advice...quit smoking anything NOW, drinking too!!! I never thought I'd say that, cause I never believed anyone that told me that there would be consequences, then one night......Continue Reading

Picked up a NIB E-Flite BAe Hawk15 ducted fan fiberglass jet and a foam Stinger 64mm jet to train for the $$ Hawk! Also drew up a wing design and scaled it up and have it cut out on a piece of foam board and should have in the air Wed. 1st jet flight today with the Stinger and forgot to setup any low rates or expo, damn near crashed it and had a flight I'll never forget, but landed great with zero damage. Today God was not the co-pilot, but the Captain in command!!!!! ZZ

I'll be damned that I got hit with another hurricane just a couple days ago. Power's been out and it's been HOT!! This baby dropped bucket's of rain and stalled on top of us for a day! One busted window and tree's down but other than that it wasn't bad. The weird thing was that it hit us 7 years to THE DAY...the 29th!!! WOW!!!

I don't get here much, sorta got here now as a mistake. I had a heart attack in 4/06 and had 4 stents. The ER doc told me I had, had the widow maker and it was a miracle I actually drove to the ER. I can't believe I stopped at a red light on the way to the ER on deserted hi-way 90 lookin at the ocean "gulf" at 3:00 in the morning and having a fatal heart attack! This was right after Katrina, the town was dead. Well, two years ago I was working on my first P-51 and had to be rushed to the hospital to have a 4 way by-pass. I have been in pain ever since. They zigged where they shoulda zagged and caused severe nerve damage. I did the pain pill thing for a year but said F it, because I was becoming dependent on them. No more pain pills, over! I never really got strong again, I should have. A couple days ago I find out from my cardiologist that my main artery they cut from my chest never enlarged like it should have and starved my heart of blood. Now I have 1/4 of my heart working. A heart transplant is the only fix and I'll be damned if anyone is cutting on me again! I don/t even know if I'm gonna let them put in a defibrillator. Good thing I picked RC for a hobby. If it gets to the point of me getting a racing chair, I can still fly! I'll have to get me a trailer for my plane.ROTFL... Hey what ya gonna do, I sure not gonna complain, I have had a great life and had probably too much fun and I'm prayed up, daily. LOL.. Well that's about it, but now to flying. I fly daily if it's not raining or too windy. I think my dog likes it as much as me. I'm not flying now, but I am looking at a bi-plane!

I see that a few folk have been here to see naught. Well, here is a little about me. I have never blogged. My name is David, "Dave" and the grandkids call me captaindave. I guess that comes from all my time in the boat industry. I am a cabinetmaker by trade, brought up by parents who wanted me to become a lawyer. My dad was an airline pilot, "Eastern" and his hobby and gift was woodworking. At a young age I helped him and became quite good at woodworking. After a stint in college "pre-law" I got married and decided to take a year off and make some money. At that time '75 Slidell La. was in the top 10 fastest growing cities in the U.S. Slidell is right across Lake Ponchatrain from New Orleans. Needless to say, I didn't go back to school. As a finish carpenter I made a lot of money and went into business for myself, later building custom cabinets exclusively. At the time I was involved with that I met some people building luxury yachts and they needed cabinets, High end cabinets. I did that until Aug. 30 2005. That was the day Katrina came ashore. I lived 1 block off the beach in Bay Saint Louis Mississippi. Don't believe that New Orleans got hit by a hurricane, they got flooded but they did not get hit by a 40' tidal wave like the Bay. My house and neighborhood was ground zero. I lost all that day but my cargo pants, my watch and my sneakers. Like a fool I stayed and if not for the crowbar, handsaw and hammer I put in the attic the nite before...Continue Reading
