Picked up a Thermal Scout to help me with spotting Thermals. While I seem to find lift most days I can't really say that I'm good at it. Thought I'd try this out and see if it helped me find rising air.

Ordered it off the Winged Shadow site http://www.wingedshadow.com/ and paid $49 plus s/h.

Comes with excellent documentation

Here's the unit, about the size of a postage stamp

Easy to install. Just plug your rudder servo into the unit and then one lead into the rudder/aileron port on your rx and the other into the channel that you want to control it with.

Bought a little stand alone GPS logger for my Radian. Just curious to see how high I was getting and to better understand when and where I was getting lift. Here's my first test of the device.

I'm pretty happy with it after the first test run. I like that it logs at 1s intervals and it seems to track the flight fairly well at this scale. Next I'll strap it to my T-28 and see what a couple of loops, etc look like.

Here's the unit I bought: http://www.blip.com.au/item.aspx?itemid=62&ref=13

Since I see people visit this page I figure I ought to write something.
I've been flying for about a year now. Needed a new hobby that I could do at lunch or after the kids went to bed. Got a Super Cub first and flew the hell out of it. Still fly it fairly often but it's been modded out with ailerons, etc now.
Currently the hanger includes:
Modded SC
PZ T-28
PZ UM P-51
PZ UM J-3
PZ Radian

Clearly I like Parkzone and their BNF/PNP planes.
Radian is the newest addition and I hope to be a good platform for some aerial photography.

I fly mostly parks and fields around Sacramento.
