I have now started scratchbuilding with fan fold. absolutely adicted. have built the pitts challanger-tony65x55. a 48" WS p-51cd-gene bond. and am now building a sts for my wife. I like the size and style of the "mono-block" planes that tony65x55 has. but i don't have any 2" foam to make the monoblock. I decided to cut all the pieces except the mono block then cut 2" strips that taper down to the tail. This method worked great and gave me a plane a few ounces lighter than the original design. The only sacrifice is structural strength. As always ask questions and I will be happy to answer.
if anyone has wants to know anything about one of my planes feel free to ask. I'm always willing to help a fellow rc'er.
I think that i'm about ready to stray away from the arf's and try my hand at a scratch built foamy. this might be fun or it might be frustrating...
Just had the motor pull away from the motor mount during mid flight om my gee bee. not good. twisted the wires up nice and pretty though. I wonder if I'm the only person that has ever happened too. (sure hope not) o well time to break out the CA
