I did this a few years back, but I had had repeated and numerous request for pictures on the mod. Since they are scattered through out a couple of different threads. I decided centralize the info and build pictures here as well here on what I did. Reading

Here are a few pictures of the latest addition. A droppable water working "Torpedo" Still doing some refinements since the last one exploded and caught fire and melted in the water.

This is my second one of these. The first one exploded and caught fire last weekend when the Lipo got wet the second time I took the plane out to test it. the first time was a complete success and worked perfectly. Too Perfectly in fact and took off across the lake ....forcing me to take a swim after it.

It consist of three of the grey FMS Zero Drop tanks glued together and hollowed out in select sections that house a small 1S 150mAh lipo powering a small electric motor, dowsed in corrosion X. The (+,-) end of the circuit are left slightly exposed at the nose tip of the TORPEDO to cause a circuit short, and closes the circuit to engage the motor when it makes contact with water after it's dropped.

I'm also doing this same thing for my Free Wing SBD5 on the center line drop

In short...I tried to make it as simple and easy as possible. it's really not hard or sophisticated. Simple small motor, wire, battery (many to choose from)...I used a leftover 1S lipo...but I may change it to AAA or AA instead? later.... Less volatile

Took my old Airfield Stuka which was crashed into many pieces a while back due to a pilot dumb thumb and decided to give her a new make over. Did her in an Afrika Desert Corp. livery

Bought me a new one from Motion RC, made me a second canopy hatch cover as an option to fly with with the cockpit open. I will leave this one the original two tone green camo least for now?

Both have Mr RC sound system with 2 speakers installed. The old one has the older SPL speakers. Then new FMS Stuka has the new TT-25 speakers.

Both have working lights in the Tank buster cannon barrels, the entire cannon assembly pod can be unplugged from underneath the wing and changed out from one stuka to the next.

Both have a working bomb drop on the center line, though they'er each a different type. The new green Stuka has been modified to use the new release mechanism and bomb from the new Hobby Zone Zero

The One I just did in the desert livery is the old Airfield Stuka. There are some minor differences I noticed between the Airfield and the FMS pilot choice (Airfield is better), push rods (FMS are beefier and better), and ESC choice ( the old Airfield cane with a 65A where as the FMS only came with a 60A)...other than that....most the rest is the same.

I'll post more pictures here later of both Stuka's as work progresses. For now....this is just the repaint of the old Air Field Stuka....Continue Reading

Have never been real happy with the pilot figure for this plane and Japanese pilot figures in this size are impossible to find or not even available...So I took a stab at making one of my own from an old FMS pilot I had lying around. Here is what I came up with on just a quick whim. Even repainting to stock one doesn't quiet do it for me.

Used the end of a Q-tip and metal tape that I could bend and shape for the fur lining look and foam tac to stick it all on. Plus a quick re-paint to make it look a little better and more accurate for the era and type of pilot. Didn't come out to bad for a quick mod if I say so myself

Here are also some pictures from my older Airfield Zero and what I did to that pilot ( the bottom pictures with the pilot and Kamakisi bandana)...Continue Reading

For all my friends and colleagues here on RCG.... I want to let everyone know as of April 2014, I have moved back to Arizona in the Mesa & Gilbert area.

Moved back and quit my job with Lockheed Martin in GA for family and health reasons. Also just simply didn't like living there any more .

Will be looking for new employment here in AZ as well as planning on going back to school and peruse my dreams & goals toward engineering. Any leads or help to that end would be greatly appreciated

Happy to be in my element and back in the open warm desert country

I'll be back up and active before you can say ...yippee- cye- yay!!!!

This Has been my Baby & "Pride and Joy" for Years....Really!!! reluctant to be selling this one but time to be moving on to other new projects.

This is actually a true scale replica of an original V35B Bonanza located at Falcon Field in my home town of Mesa, AZ.

This is one smooth and graceful flying Air Plane and I've enjoyed many hours with her in the air. I flew hew with several motors, but the best was the Saito 150

I'm now moving all of the those parts over to my new Project the TF T-34 Mentor

I do hope some day Top-Flite re-release this Kit some Day. I would love to build this one again some day.

My Only regret is that I never got any video of me flying this plane, but that was long before I got into or had the ability and equipment to video the flights.
That will Not be the case with the TF T-34 Mentor I do Next

This is another video (Better one) of my Bungee Catapult Launcher for My R/C Planes...Specifically my Sky Walker X8 & my XF-61 Phantom Flying wings both set up for FPV use. This can be used on many different kinds of R/C Aircraft and is easy to build.
I got my inspiration for this from R/C Groups and more Specifically a User there "Brett".
Thanks so much for the great idea Brett. Credit goes to you for this innovative design and great idea!!..... Well Done
Here is a couple of links to the RCG pages where he made his at

Well I finally have started to revive many of my Nitro Birds after years of storage and have started to prep them for next summers flying season. This is my Top Flite B-25J Mitchel with twin Saito 82 Gold Knight 4 stroke motors on her controlled by an electronic "Twin-Sync" setup, Controlled individual bomb release and full working Bomb Bay, along with a Working rotating Top Gun Turret.

I'm currently working on converting the Robart Pneumatic 630 Retracts to the New electric version with the electric conversion kit from Robart, also a few modification to the gear doors sequenced open/closed operation....Continue Reading

Ok...I started the ShockWave sound modification to my "Obsession" P-51 Mustang that I was working on this last spring. Hope to have this all finished up by next weekend. Still a little undecide on the front speaker or speakers lay out yet? Not sure if I'm going to use two 3 inch speakers in the nose (one on each side in speaker boxes) -or- another 4 inch speaker on the bottom in the nose, also in a speaker box?

The speaker box adds a much deeper and richer sound I have found rather than just mounting the speaker directly in the foam. The box also reinforces the the weakened area where the foam has been removed, so I'm not concerned there.

The ballance of the speakers and sound module will be here on friday.....I will be busy on it this well as on the A-1 SkyRaider doing the same thing and finishing up the LX Corsair sound mod...Continue Reading

Sticky: My FMS BF-109

Well I started working on my FMS BF-109 Messerschmitt. Not sure exactly what Livery I'm going to do yet? so for now I'm leaving it in the winter stock scheme

I noticed right away that the inboard flap sections do not close well and I have one that is slightly warped. Also the linkage between them is preventing the outboard sections from lining up with the ailerons trailing edge properly, It's just slightly off and drooped....Continue Reading

Here is some of the work I've done to the Freewing ME-262. The stock pilot is actually one of the better stock pilots I've see and decided to go ahead and use him with a repaint make over done to him to give him a bit more depth and realistic look. I also added some more details to the cockpit I noticed from studying some online documentation reference photos.

I also repainted over all of the nuetral gray areas on the plane with a darker Green gray and added some weathering effects....Continue Reading

Just finished making a new set of storage racks for my FMS Birds and a transport rack for my pickup from and idea that "Sundancer" did and got his idea from "MRFASTPHILL" who did the origional concept design. I like "Sundancer" also expanded on it and did a few tweeks and additions of my own to mine, to suit my wants better.

The extra 2 wing cradels aren't shown in these pictures as well as the extra fuselage support. In it's current configuration it's rigged to carry 5 planes.

Most of the origional measurements I got from Gary "Sundancer" and then stretched them a bit, with the addition of the third trap piece in the middle, which fits perfectly in the back of my 97 Chevy Silverado 3/4 ton. I did a road test with it today fully loaded at speeds up to 65 mph on the freeway, and like Gary posted on his blog with handled it with no problems at all, and everything stayed nice and secured. ...Continue Reading

Here are pictures of several of the Modified "Aces of Iron" pilots I have done for myself and others here on RCG. I don't put boots or shoes of any kind on them since typically they are covered up or hidden and you can't see them anyway. But if you wanted to ?...usually at any craft store you can find stuff like doll shoes and G.I.Joe boots and that sort of thing and just simply glue them on.

For anybody interested in having me make one for them?...shoot me a PM. Typically for this size guy I charge $150.00 painted and shipped or $90.00 unpainted (to the Continentals US Lower 48 States) (Over seas shipping is extra due to higher cost) and you provide the "Aces of Iron" pilot bust shipped to me (I do not want to infringe on their copy right figures), I'll modify it and paint it up (or not, your choice?) like I did mine (special painting request taken also) and ship it back to you. Since I do these in my off spare time off from work, it usually takes about 2 1/2 weeks or so? (usually sooner) to get it back to you once I've received your Pilot bust. If you send payment please do so via Pay Pal (which I prefer).

If you just want a the "Aces of Iron" bust figure painted up, I charge $60.00 which includes the cost of shipping him back to you (within the continental U.S. shipping only... Outside the U.S. is extra). For painting only, I can usually finish one in about a week or two (some time it takes longer depending on my full time work...Continue Reading
