I've reworked the Jet exhaust deflectors to more closely resemble what they should look like . Not much left in the building stage of the Fouga before the painting begins, and I'm already thinking about the next big one

Keeping the updates going I wanted to add 2 more photo's of the current state of play for this model . Thanks to Tony (Antonsoarer) a better view of the jet exhaust deflectors shows me that my imagination was slightly off so need to redo them oh well having the details helps, trying to reinvent the wheel takes longer

This weekend i poured a number of hours into my new project, but once again with these builds it seems to reach a point where you spend the time and then stand back and cant see what you have done can be very frastrating .
My advise for any apsiring builder is to just keep plugging away then all of a sudden it ready .

As most in the slope forum know ,now that the Bearcats finished and flown I moved onto my next build. It is going to be a 2.9 mtr Span Fouga 90 PSS
so far the fuse is just about done the tails cut and sheeted and the wings are cut waiting to be sheeted . The build is exactly the same method as the Bearcat was (no surprize there ) Hopefully with proper planning and time the 90 will prove a great flight buddy in the car with the big Bear

the slope fest for 09
Discussion / Posted by steve wenban / Oct 01, 2009 @ 03:57 PM / 1,158 Views / 1 Comments / Reply
Have to say I feel pretty good about the slope fest all the work that was put into setting it up and running the show was all worth while, everyone got lots of air time and lots of positive comments about the site. The fact that pilots leaving where booking the accomodation for 2010's event showed the genuine interest the event created . I personally have plenty of memories that will last a life time ,meeting some of the well known names On RCG and some absolute slope newbies who left the event totally hooked on slope flying :D
All the sponsors where absolutely teriffic and generous with there gifts and many at the event went home with more aircraft than they arrived with.
I think that next year More people will take the oppertunity to use the full week rather than the last long weekend now they know that the site is as good as it is .Stay tuned for Manilla Slope Fest 2010.

radio woe's
Discussion / Posted by steve wenban / Jul 16, 2009 @ 06:22 PM / 1,864 Views / 0 Comments / Reply
My JR 2720 recently switched off just after launch of my Carbon Miniblade
which rolled on its back and lawn darted. The cause ? the radio gave a long beep and then displayed Backup Error, a lot of discussion on the topic concluded that the lithium Battery on the board had failed .However furthur research revealed that in fact the 2720 does not have the battery and in fact has flash memory and the problem was firmware failure , this means the radio has to go back to Japan to be reprogrammed. And Ive been also told that this problem also can affect the DX7 sets as well. I was also told that it happens on power up ,unfortunately my radio proved that wrong as it was already on. My radio is only 19 months old but still thats out of warranty.
I'm not grumbling about it these things happen this posting is more or less a warning for other users of this radio as well as other check your manuals and if you see the error code BACKUP ERROR listed just keep your eyes open .
Hopefully the reprogramming may upgrade the firmware and eliminate this error happening but thats a big ask I think.

About time I put a few words together for the blog again.
as per my previous entry Ive been busy build a big foam and Balsa bearcat for our September slope festival which has built momentum at an incredible rate . And has drawn International flyers to attend  But enough of that heres a photo of the Cat about a week ago , since that photo the starboard wing is complete including the Aileron and flap and the cowl plug has been manufactured so its nearly ready to start the finish process :D
Looks Like I'll actually finsh an aircraft well befor the deadline  .

Australia Manilla Slope Fest 09
Discussion / Posted by steve wenban / Feb 06, 2009 @ 04:10 PM / 3,059 Views / 0 Comments / Reply
Well After missing this years Camperdown get together I was determined to put something together that a lot of slope flyers and I have discussed many times regarding a NSW event .Now Thanks to Godfrey the owner of Mt Borah in Manilla ,near Tamworth it looks like that event is becoming a reality with solid dates set in September for a week long get together ,so if your into slope and feel like getting together for some good air time with a crew of other slope flyers from around the country and maybe even a few O/sea visitors as well ,then check out the slope forum and the thread with the above title .

Picked up a used Mini Blade for a very good price with all the gear in it. However it wasnt a sparkling new model by any stretch of the imagination ,an so I took to it with gusto for a full face lift .Now its almost ready to fly again and looks pretty good i'm happy with the finish ,just needs a cut and polish but thats nothing . So this is another one to go fast in circles on the wrong side of the hill.
