I had a great day of flying this past sunday ....

I got 10 flights in with my Extreme Flight Yak and only two with my Slick ...

An aileron servo stripped on the third flight ... ...

I also got some Nightflying in with my Super Cub ....

I had a good day of RC Flying ... rdbell came out and flew with us ....

He even attacked the windsock with his flying wind and hit it twice ! It was cool .... His Quadcopter was pretty cool too ....

I got it on video .....

Aito Wreck (5 min 10 sec)

Well after many hours of work the Yak flies ....

Me and a couple great guys from the field ... Bruce , Chris , and Steve worked on it for a long time Saturday and got it into the air Sunday ...

It doesn't fly like the Slick at all ... but I love it and can't wait to get it into the air some more ...

The Slick had a rough day ....

I put it in pretty hard after loosing orientation while practicing rolling loops .... it didn't seem like their was to much damage .... other than some scratches ...

I changed the prop and put it up again .... and while doing a knife edge spin the prop flew off and I was force to do a landing .... but it happened very fast and I flared to early which broke both gears .... and I later discovered the motor box was pretty messed up ...

I could fix it with CA ... but for 10 bucks a new motor box seems like a better option ......Continue Reading

Well ... I have gone to the dark side ... I am going to be getting my first gasser.

Its an Extreme Flight Yak 54 ... its an awesome looking plane ...

Sunday I got some good flying in ... I mostly flew the Slick until the rudder servo mount gave out.

I got some really good photos of it ( Thanks Jim ) and I am getting much more comfortable ....

The big thing that happened was a turbine crashed ... it was really bad ... their was nothing left ....

Unfortunately the time is about to change which will make flying after school impossible ...

Enjoy the pics ....

It was Super windy this last Sunday ....

I was excited to fly but ....

I got to the field and it was breezy with a good 8 mph wind .... then while at the field a couple friends arrived and the windy weather turned calm and I even got to fly my Aito Bi-plane. Which flew great after an incident with the ground Friday ... Then about an hour later ... the wind picked up even more ... it was really windy ! It went from dead calm back to 10 mph and gusting to 15 mph .... it got even worse ... when I left at 1:04 it was just up to 30 mph ...

I spent most of the day setting up a Multiplex Cularis Glider ... we spent well over and hour ... more like two hours mixing and getting it flight ready.

I only flew the Slick and got some good flights with it and even a tail touch ....

I am getting more comfortable and at the same time more anxious to get my hands on a bigger plane ..... I might even go look at one locally ... (Look at bold letters)

The time is changing and eventually it will be almost dark by the time I get home from school ... which stinks .... but at least I have a simulator ...

I got some good flying in ....

Its getting colder in TN ... its was 40 Degrees when I left the house ... I ordered a transmitter mitt so I can practice all winter.

I started the day with the Aito and I am really getting good with this plane ... its just easy flying plane that I am comfortable with .... Its great for trying out new maneuvers. It did get a little beat up after I was doing some low rolling circles and the grass jumped up and caught a wingtip ... nothing foam safe CA won't fix.

I then got the Slick out after I warmed up .... man I love this plane. I am getting really comfortable ... rolling loops are getting better ... I can do a half loop really well ... just the other half I start to panic I even got down low for some close in hovering ... I have to please the cameraman

I was going to get some video but unfortunately it didn't work out.

The quest for a bigger plane got shot down when the "budget" was a bit lower than expected .... those 6s Thunder Power batteries are expensive ... thats all I have to say ... Eventually it will happen ... Its all Bivens fault ... after I flew the 87' SHP thats all I could think about ...

Fall break is over so now its back to flying once a week ... unless I can sneak out after school ....

I might try to build a new plane this week .... not sure if I am up to it ....

It was a great days flying and I can't wait for next Sunday ...

It was a great day for RC flying ..... and their where a lot of people ... I think we counted 60-80 ...

I had a good day ... I was bummed out about my Super Cub Nightflyer .... something went wrong with the wiring and completely smoked the system ... so that will take some work.

I mostly flew the Slick and the T-28 and the Aito , half way through the day the Eflite 480 Motor on my Slick smoked. I wasn't to happy about that ....

Then some one came up and asked me if I had any extra 12 by 6 props ... and thats the prop I had on my Slick so I took it off and gave it to him. He tried to pay me but I just gave it to him.

A little while later a guy (Tony) came up to me and gave me an Eflite 480 motor ! I bolted it onto the Slick and flew some more.

I guess that was Karma or something ....

It was a great day and I met a lot of nice people ...

I left Saturday around 5:00 ..

Sunday flying was good also I mostly flew the Aito and the Slick ....

I got to take another ride in a Cessna 172 today which was pretty fun ....

What a weekend .... ...Continue Reading

It was a great day ... huge planes ... and great weather.

I arrived at 10:30 at my and go to fly my Slick a little .... their were many huge planes and even a couple of 3DHS planes ....

At 12:00 they even had a 3D time .... Their were four pilots .... including me ...

Three 50 CC monsters and one 42" Slick ... I did fly the lowest ...

Later in the day after the turbines where done I again went to fly the Slick ....

As I was walking up to the flight line a man approached me and said .... " Do you want to fly the 87" Extra SHP ...... " and I said " Heck Yea ! "

I took it up and flew the heck out of it .... it had a smoke system which I loved to use .... Torque Rolls where awesome ...

Thanks Micheal (Bivens on RCG) for being brave and letting me fly the Extra !

After I was done flying I even got to take picture with the Fly Low Girls ... ...Continue Reading

Their is a big fly in tomorrow ! Wahoooo ....

But I am not feeling to great ..... so I am not sure if I will be able to go .....

If I can get my Dad to take me (its a 75 mile trip) , and I am feeling well ... I will go and get some good pictures ... and take a couple planes to fly ...

I also started designing my own 3D/Pattern Hybrid .... so I hope that works out well ..

It was a nice windy day today ... which meant that flying was limited ....

I don't like flying 3D in the wind ..... so I mostly flew my T-28.

My dad brought out his good camera to get some cool photos ......

I flew my Aito in the wind a little ... it was fun

The Diablo died ... The motor mought came off and after gluing it back it broke again .... I didn't have enough power to do 3D moves .... but I tried anyways ...

I also tried out the pylon racer and surprisingly flew well ... maybe it will stay around for awhile ..... the CG still needs to be adjusted .....

It was a fun day .... even though it was turbulent and windy

Here is my new plane ....

It flies awesome .... it might even become my new favorite !

I will get some video next time I fly it ....

It was an awesome day for flying today ....

I started out at the flying field around 6:20 ... I maidened the new Diablo and it flew reasonably well .... it needs more power ...

It has just enough to hover ... It looks very good if you ask me .... but I broke the motor mount after falling out of a hover ... so that will need fixing .... not to bad.

The Pylon Racer flew great ... I had a of couple smart guys at the field suggest some wing incidence angle changes which helped a lot ... but unfortunately ..... I stalled it on the landing .... it wasn't even a foot off the ground ... but it broke the motor found and a little place behind the wing .... not to bad ... but after all the work I put into it I wish I could have flown it a little more ...

I might fix it but I am not sure .... I hate making firewalls ..... and motor mounts ....

I flew the Slick and the T-28 most of the day ... they flew great like usual ! Jim H out at the field got some awesome photos ....

I also bought a F3P Biplane from a guy super cheap .... so I will get that flying soon ... probably by the end of the week ...

Well after I killed my Diablo .... I missed it so I started a new build tonight ...

I have almost everything traced out onto the foam ... tomorrow I will build the airframe and hopfully paint it and install the electronics Saturday night ....

I plan on a nice paint scheme ...... I hope ...

Sunday their will be a Fun Fly ..... I am going to bring as many planes as I can fit in my Car !

Hobby Lobby was cool ... I almost rented an RC Car to have some fun with ... but resisted ....

I then when to another LHS and looked at some planes on consignment ..... A GWS Cargo was RTF with Spektrum Receiver was very tempting ...

I hope school goes by fast tomorrow because this weekend is going to rock !

I hope I get to try out my Pylon Racer tomorrow also ...

Tomorrow I am going to Hobby Lobby International ... Wahoooo !

I haven't been in over a year ..... I normally like to visit all the local RC Places .... their is no school due to parent teacher conferences ... so thats another excuse.

I also got some good flying in Sunday .....

I tried the pylon racer out and found that there were some problems .....

1: The rushed aileron linkage caused the the right aileron to get stuck up .. causing it to roll to the right alot ...

2: The CG was a little nose heavy .... but not extremely bad ...

On the landing I ripped the wing off and that caused some damage that is all fixed now ... I will give the plane a couple more tries and see how it flies ... then decided if I would keep it or scrap it and buy a better Pylon Racer

I also did some awesome combat with my Reno Racer ... it took some serious abuse ... but lived .... Photos below ....

This Sunday is the local Fun Fly ... then the next Sunday I don't get to fly due to my family going to a UT game ....

Then the Tullahoma Electric Fun Fly !

The plane to finish is the Twin Jet ... I need to find some decent motors ... the ones I ordered just weren't the right setup ...

Here are some cool pictures that were taken last Sunday when I was flying ....

It was a prefect day and flew from 6:30 to 5:00 .... it was a long day full of flying.

I flew the Cap ... until I nosed it in and broke the motor mount ... not sure if I am going to fix it ...

I am try to phase out older beat up planes for newer and nicer things ....

I decided it was finally time to get my DMA Skat Pylon racer finished ... I am working on the aileron servo and its almost mounted ... and the motor is on the way ....

I picked an Electrifly Ammo Motor .... I am not sure if its the perfect motor ... but it should be a descent setup ... and if this plane fails ... I will get a Electrifly Rifle .....

It won't be super fast ... probably only about 100 mph ... I decided if I really want to go fast I will buy something made for brushless motors and bigger lipos. ( Voodoo)

I can't wait to fly again .. maybe tomorrow after school ....

It was time to retire this airframe .....

The elevons were all messed up from being ripped off multiple times and the servos were going bad ....

I took everything out and now I have some new goodies .....

An HET 2W-20 , a Turnigy 80 Amp ESC , and a receiver ...

The receiver will go in my reno racer so I can fly it tomorrow ...

I also crashed the Cap and had to remount the motor.

After the Demise of my Diablo Foamie ... I wasn't sure what to do with the electronics ...

I was talking to my dad about getting rid of a few old airframes when he gave me the idea of getting the Cap back into the air ....

I am using the same motor and servos ... I bought another HXT 900 from the LHS ...

I hope it will still fly ... it won't fly exactly like my foamie ... but should fill the need for some LOW 3D ...

I had a good flying day today .... only a couple accidents .....

I destroyed my Diablo 3D Foamie ....

The battery came off ..... and caused a massive CoG change .... which made me go in nose first ......

I might build another one ... but I have to many other projects ....

The ESC on my AMX burnt out .... I am not sure why .... but it did ... I need to order a couple 30-40 Amp ESC's ....

My ProJeti flew awesome !

It was clocked going 97 mph ... and thats with a small prop ... I can go up some more ...

The elevons look like they need to be reinforced with some hinge tape ....

It was a good day ....

You can get the full story at Foambusters.org !

New Plane !

Well I finally figured out how to mount the motor on my Projeti !

I used a GWS black mount and some balsa ..... no need for details ....

So I finished it today and can't wait to fly it ...

I think it looks pretty good ......

Its using my Metal Gear servos from Hobby City , and an old Hi-Max motor that was on my Funjet .....

I wonder how fast it will be ?
