I got into the hobby in Nov. of 2008. I had tried it with my son 20 years earlier but we weren't successful, so we quit. Our first plane was a Graupner UHU electro--in 1989.
I Was cleaning out the garage in Nov of 08 and decided to try it again. It was a whole new game with Brushless Motors and lipos. The ARFs were cheap and easy to put in the air. Took me about 10 planes to learn how to fly; but I finally got an easystar and then a Parkzone radian. After that everything fell into place and I was hooked. I now like speed and fly wings and have started flying a MXP Blizzard. Its a great hobby that continues to challenge and thats what keep me interested. Have also met some nice people.
I fly at Zilker park in Austin Its beautiful and only 5 minutes from my house. I take my dog Ozzy who chases the plane when it lands.
I also fly with some RC buddies in Dripping Springs. We call ourselves the Belterra Barnstormers. Great bunch of guy who are always willing to help a newcomer. The mefisto video above was made at our flying field in Dripping Springs, TX.
Here is a link to a video I made of Zilker with a camara attached to a Parkzone Radian.
