celebrated Father's Day today (Saturday), so went out to the field and flew from 6:00am to 10:00am!
it was great had the flying field all to myself
I took the yellow goose with me too, but at the end of the first flight I had a boom support snap at the eyelet so spent the rest of the time flying the green goose.
got home and fixed the yellow goose, so the fleet is back up and running again
and to top the day off, my bride made me veggie lasagna AND she and my sons gave me enough $$ to pay for a new muffler (which I had already bought
)

Here's my gasser fleet
Did the maiden today on the Green Mongoose!
Did the maiden today on the Green Mongoose!
Here are my AirStar International Mongoose gassers:
Neon Yellow Goose: Zenoah G260RC, swinging 810mm mains and 120mm tail, GY611/s9256 on the tail and (3) Futaba s9551 on a 120° swash, Fromeco Arizona regulator with pin switch
Green Goose: CY29RC, swinging 830mm mains and 120mm tail, GY611/s9256 on the tail and (4) JR DS8311 on a 90° swash, Fromeco Arizona regulator with pin switch
Will get some 'recent' pictures, I took these yesterday morning and my yesterday evening the green goose received the CY29RC and a teflon exhaust pipe as the flex pipe was leaking.
having some tracking difficulties on the green goose, but hope to have it sorted by the end of the long weekend as well as having the new CY29RC broken in

Funcopter Night flying!!
Love my fixed pitch Funcopter, added some night blades to it and it's even better!!!

been wanting a gasser for a while, finally saved up enough, and found a GREAT deal on this heli.
it's an AirStar International Mongoose!

500 Class Converted Fixed Pitch
Took a Walkera Enerco 500 class heli and put a Multiplex Funcopter head on it.
I know, I know, the whole a CP heli can be set up for FP, and CP is better than FP arguments. But for those that know me on the forum, know that I love FP
For the type of flying I do the simplicity and low parts count of a FP is PERFECT.
So here's a video of my 500 with a FP head and custom main shaft, everything else is stock Walkera.
here's my set up
cyclics (2) HS-5085mg (modded swash to except a 90° setup)
gyro Spartan 760
tail servo fugtaba 9254
flymentor
6s 2650mah 20c

| Funcoptermods 500 Tail Modification How-To (8 min 57 sec) |
I was able to install a 500 class boom and tail pitch assembly on to my Multiplex Funcopter.
This is the maiden, no issues. There's no slop in the rudder like there is in the stock tail.
I had to make my own gear tube, to install the tail pulley from the kit i sell. You can't use the stock tail gear because the stock 500 tail pulley has too many teeth.
Here's the very first lift off with the modification. Since this video I have taken it outside, and it flew GREAT!
I will need to shake it down further (make sure everything is loctite etc) before doing a full flight.

| MAJOR FUNCOPTER UPGRADE (0 min 31 sec) |
Ballistic Technology Tail Pitch Slider on a Funcopter
This upgrade is not available anywhere that I know of, but it sure is sweet!!!
My left to right turns are a lot smoother now and feels more precise overall.
I put some 83mm 500 class tail blades, I have glow in the dark ones on it right now

Just bought these mats from Harbor Freight, sorry they don't have a picture of it, will post one later.
Laid them out in front of where I work on my heli's, went for a test flight and brown out, did some checking of the heli, and battery, etc, etc nothing, still getting brown outs.
Went to shut off my battery charger, and I got a little zap, this never happened before, so I took out my static meter (yes, I have a static meter, I'm in electronics) and I was getting about 3,000 volts of static off the mats!!!
Now all the brownouts happened after installation of the mats, I had a great afternoon of flying (pre-mat installation) no issues (never had this issue). Thought I'd do some nite flying (post-mat installation) and that's when the brown outs started
Will post pictures of the mat and of the meter readings tomorrow
Just a heads up
pictures added all readings take on the same mat and at the same distance

FINALLY got a flight in at the park with the CF flybar and CNC rotor head on my Funcopter!!!!
But wouldn't you know it, a bunch of kids showed up, so didn't get to fly, didn't think it was safe with all of them around.

Pole Position Go Cart Racing
There's a contest to see who can make the best video, a friend of mine, who is also my pastor loves to cart race, so here's his youtube entry if you like it, please give it a thumbs up
(sorry for just a link, if I embed his video no credit given for the view on youtube)
It was pretty kewl, they let us go in before they opened the track and they allowed me to fly my helicopter inside with a camera on it while he was racing alone on the track!
now the bad news is that my stinking sony webbie does HORRIBLE with inside light and I didn't know until it was too late. So none of my footage made it into the video. but here's a couple of scenes very grainy because I had to over expose the video for anything to show up.
I brought two heli's with me and I had a mech failure at spool up on the heli that was intended for inside flying
so I was left with the other heli that was intended for outside shots of the building, but was too windy to fly at all.
the lighting was poor and had to fly with no canopy to accommodate for the camera, with no canopy it was VERY hard to keep my orientation straight end result, crash.
all the video that was used in the contest was shot with the ebay keychain cams which had zero problems with the low light, go figure.

Funcopter Upgrade: CNC Rotor Head
Using all stock Funcopter head parts with the exception of the upgraded rotor head and Z links. The Z links I'm using are from a Corona 120 which are IDENTICAL to the Funcopter Z links except they're bare metal instead of the painted stock Funcopter ones. I didn't want to spend $11.98 for stock Funcopter Z links
